Nook Color rooting question

Paid a local computer guy to root my Nook Color. Seems to be all there, but cannot get any of the apps to actually work. I just want to read more book formats (specifically .pdb and Kindle) and while the app for Kindle is downloaded onto the NC, it doesn't open any of the books.

Also, have ended up with a weird 'go to last page' icon in the middle of the NC and it doesn't work but also doesn't go away.

Any suggestions? I've about decided it was a total waste of $60 and that I'll have to take it back to stock...providing I can do that.

Thanks in advance.

how did he root it? simply rooting a device won't get you that functionality.

rooting just gives you elevated access so you can then do much more than you could when it was stock.

Are you running Froyo or did he use something like Auto-Nooter to just give the stock UI + market and a few other thing?

Your best bet would probably be return to stock.

then install Auto-Nooter Auto-Nooter 3.0.0 (1.1 only) - xda-developers

what that effectively gets you is a Nook with pretty much 100% of the stock functionality plus things like the market, gapps etc.
