I have been a devout android fan since I bought my OG Droid, and have until now never posted to the forums. I am torn between buying a nook color and waiting to buy another android tablet when I have the cash. I am leaning towards the nook because of the price and it seems to offer the options that I would use on a tablet such as email, web, market apps, and media player. I am not technically challenged, but am a little nervous about getting the different android versions to run on the nook. From reading the forum posts it sounds fairly straight forward. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Depends on what you are looking and the price you want to pay. I like the NC but I just saw my brother in laws tablet...I can't recall the brand.

It 10" with honeycomb with gps and wifi. No 3g so no contracts. It looked good. Plus, since it supported a mic it could be easily used as a wifi phone. I was impressed. It ran $450.

There's a 14 return policy on the Nook Color. Buy, try it, and answer your own questions :)

I'd vote the Nook. Find a clean used one on CraigsList or refurbed somewhere. The recent CM7 nightlies + Dalingrin's OC kernel+his Nook Color Tweek app turn this thing into a sweet affordable tab.

I was torn between a couple of tablets as well and then bought the Nook since they have a 14 day return policy. I then went to RootNookColor.com - Root you're Nook Color Externally with microSD card! and had them program a bootable microSD card with Cyanogenmod 7 on it so I could see what it looked like without messing up the Nookcolor. Man, the thing is awesome! Yes it's a little small and it doesn't have a GPS but I have one of those in my car so no need in that department. I was a little scared letting someone on my network and taking over my iMac to program the card but these guys were very professional and knew what they were doing. They offer other options as well so you don't have to do it the way I did. I'm not making a plug for them and I have no affiliation with them, I just thought this would help you make up your mind. I'm very happy with the Nookcolor now. I have access to the market, over clocking the cpu, and a slew of other things and I can still read my books with the Nook app. If for any reason the nook starts having problems I can take out the microSD card and boot it back to it's standard operating system so it doesn't void the warranty. Anyway, that's my opinion. Go try it out, I think you will be pleased with the Nook Color.
