Not able to transfer files after flashing CM7

I have a rooted fire, ver 6.3.7 on which I flashed CM7 and google apps. Everything is working well except I can no longer transfer files back and forth between my fire and my PC running Win7 64.

The PC recognizes that the fire is connected because when I access "hidden icons," there is an option to eject the fire. I have been careful to load the Fire drivers, and I don't get the "unknown usb device" message when connecting. What I don't get is the popup that asks what I want to do with the newly connected device, nor does it show up as a device in the pc's file browser. I don't think the problem is with the pc, because my rooted evo4g and my rooted asus transformer, running Revolver rom, both still connect to the pc normally.

I did find one suggestion that booting into TWRP and selecting "mount" would fix the problem, but didn't work for me :(

Anyone? Well anyway, thanks for reading.

My only suggestion is do it through command prompt. Or try booting a Linux live CD to see if it works on there. What I did after going to cm7 was uninstall the kindle drivers and then reinstall.. Hope it helps.

I thought about uninstalling the the drivers, but the kindle doesn't show up in the device manager. Where else would I find the drivers?

Update:
I am such a nerd. I had forgotten that the usb drivers are found in "Devices and Printers." I found Google usb driver installed. Removed it and reinstalled. No help. Rolled back to Microsoft driver. No help. Reinstalled driver using .bat file from Kindle Fire Utility. No help. Now looking at the driver details I find that they are for system 32, and I am running system 64. Have to search for the x64 drivers.

Update:
The problem appears to be that it is installing 32bit drivers, even though the .inf file specifies 64bit. Strange, because it worked once. Even if I remove the drivers and let Windows install microsoft's drivers, the are 32 bit???

Problem solved, mysteriously. After many attemps at reinstalling the drivers, the Fire suddenly started to show a screen offering usb mass storage. After selecting it, the Fire showed as a device on my pc's file manager. :)
