Not all 5X are created equal

I'm on my second 5X now. The first one had a creaky back and the SIM tray was almost impossible to close. And it was slow as molasses, got very hot and the battery didn't last a day. The second is very different - almost looks like it was made by a different manufacturer (which it isn't, of course). It's well made, no creaking, doesn't get hot, battery drain is what you'd expect (easily lasts through a busy day) and it's blazingly fast - no stutters whatsoever, even the camera app loads instantly. The only weird thing is that Snapseed takes about 30 seconds to save images.

So what's going on here? Another processor-gate?
