NOT CHARGING!!! Is my charging port broken? If yes, what repair part can I use???

I am currently using the Spring version HTC One M8 32GB (Model 831C) and recently my phone started not charging as fast as usual, now my phone barely charges at all. I have tried many different Micro-USB charging cables and wall adapters, including the stock ones, and nothing can provide me with a sturdy charging connection.

I have to insert the cable into the port in different positions for it to even show that it is charging and it seems to work best when I push the cable straight into the phone charging port with moderate pressure, once I let go and release the force, it stops charging again.

I do charge my phone overnight and I am well aware of that being bad for the battery. I also experienced my phone getting hot during one or two software updates, hot enough to the point that my hand will start feeling pain from holding the device for around 10-15 seconds. I am curious if this can cause internal damage to my device.

I have seen HTC One M8 charging ports on sale on Amazon and there seems to be two versions, a single port and a double port. I have no idea what the differences are and which one is compatible with my device. I would very much appreciate it if someone can help me figure out what might be the problem for my device and which part I should purchase and repair my device with.

My ultimate question is if I should repair my charging port and if yes, which model should I get?

Thank you all so much for your help!!!

My brother also has this problem. His HTC One M8 (AT&T) has recently stopped charging too. He has to hold it at an angle for it just to charge. And I called a repair place & googled the issue. It seems to be a common failure on the M8's. I had no idea, but to fix it at a shop was only $100, and he got his camera's fixed too. I don't know about doing it yourself, but good luck.

The M8 just seems to have a weak port design. After having two fail on me, I just cut my losses and moved to another phone. Unless you have a compelling reason to stay with your M8, I'd suggest the same to you too.
