Not good news.....

I think jaj is jealous because we got nearly a G2 for half the price. :D

Kit Kat is new and the phone is new and we bought it at launch (or within the first week or so). That's early and voluntary receipt of new tech.

And you don't want to admit it but the Nexus 5 is a premium phone. Look at the specs. It's every bit as good as a GS4 except for SD. I really don't see why you keep insisting the phone is sub par. We own it and love it.

Show me where I ever said it's sub par. It lacks the fine touches to place it in the $700 league though. Raw specs alone don't cut it. You have to have raw power AND fine touches. Whether they be expandable memory, or software enhancements like a suite of stylus apps, or more expensive exterior fit and finish, or Boomsound, or voice activated features, or active notifications or a few dozen other things the OEMs put into their devices.

That's just the advertised big things. I'm not even getting into the small, seldom mentioned stuff. Like how much Hangouts lacks simple and polished features as a dedicated SMS app compared to how many excellent (and no brainer) features OEM's put in the dialer and SMS and music players. Who makes an SMS app without a solid and easy way to group text to multiple contacts? But I digress.

That's basically the point I'm making. Nearly.

Yes, so you say, so you say. Yet there are thousands of delighted Nexus 5 owners who really couldn't be happier with it. But in your universe we don't exist because in your universe we couldn't possibly be that happy with the Nexus 5.

You really should give up, Rule9. You're not going to win the argument.

I wouldn't trade my Nexus 5 for two of your $700 Sony Xperia Z1 that does nothing for me. You don't have a Nexus 5 and the only reason you are on this board is no one cares about the Sony Xperia Z1 that has only had one post today on their lifeless board. BTW, Congratulations with your $700 phone since I hear owners of the Sony Xperia Z1 is going to get an update to the newest edition of Android 4.3 Jelly Bean imminently. Then again I am really happy on my $349 Nexus 5 with Kit Kat 4.4.2 and happy I didn't spend $700 on a phone with last years OS.

I got mine at launch and I'm perfectly happy with it. Like many others have said, if I had a problem with it I would have returned it or exchanged it.

Lol, you guys are being silly. I'm not trying to "win" at anything nor am I trying to convince you of anything. I'm merely making a statement. Nowhere did I say you must agree with it. I already know you don't. That's good enough for me, isn't it for you? I don't see any reason to get upset about it.

We get it no one cares about the Sony Xperia Z1 that has only had one post today on their board so you come over to a board where people are buying a more popular phone at half the price. I have no issues with Sony or Samsung I just found a better value for my money with a unlocked Nexus 5 that I think is the best phone on the market for under $500 phone and I only paid $399 for the 32GB model. Then again I would never spend even $500 for a phone since there really isn't that much differences for my needs that the Nexus 5 fits to a T.

Sony never gets traction on US based tech media because your carriers don't carry it. You mad because there's a world that doesn't revolve around the USA? Not sure why you're being all smarmy about it. Did your feelings get hurt over a smartphone? Sorry then? Let's get together and I'll buy you an ice cream and a captain america action figure :)
Don't be mad :(

AT&T used to carry Sony and it's never been that popular here. If it had been more carriers would have picked up their phones. There's nothing wrong with Sony phones, but there's nothing special about them either. Obviously people in the US only care about phones offered here, duh! If I lived elsewhere I would only care about phones offered elsewhere.

If you truly didn't care and didn't have an ax to grind you'd move on now that you've given your .02, but you like to argue and can't move on whether you're wrong or right.

...but the fact that Google did this 2 years in a row is annoying.
I would place more blame on LG than Google. I'm sure LG designed the phone and made the design errors in the first place...and then RESPONDED to Google's complaints about the design issues with the updated design.

some people just enjoy the misfortune of others... it makes themselves feel better.

I'm sorry but this is rabid fanboism, which is why I'm not surprised that a couple of the high 5's your post got were from some of the biggest fanbois in AC. This isn't early adoption. This isn't new tech.

If you accept ?these kinds of things? as a consumer, then you either have very low standards or suffer from the kind of blind irrational loyalty often seen in product fanboy/fangirls.

i agree with the sentiment but not the tone. i was one of the very first people who traded in my phone which had the loose power button for the updated version. very happy i did. consumers definitely need to make a stand on certain things, not just that they are "acceptable" or "fine with it." I'm sure if Google had made a terrible phone, at least one-fourth to one-half the people would still be in here, arguing on Google's behalf as to why the phone is still "good enough." Fortunately for us, the reality is that these problems are fairly minor.

I've just come off the phone to Google customer services.

My power and volume button are slightly wobbly and I'm slightly concerned that its going to get worse.

I told Google this and they offered me an exchange, but she then advised me to keep hold of my nexus 5 for a few months and I'd I feel its got worse then I can exchange as it is under warranty for a year.

I'm going to keep hold of it for a while and then probably get an exchange at some point in the near future!!!

I would just go and exchange it before it's too late. No reason not to. I'm sure the reason they told you to hold onto it is that they want to slow down all these exchanges. I'd do it quickly and be done with it.

Does anyone actually have the new version? How is it? Are despite the slight wobbly-ness, I actually like the premium feel of the buttons. Are the new buttons more plastic-feeling?

So what? They can make the speakers bigger but it won't matter you still will hear more crap sound out of them it all depends if they would improve the speaker DRIVERS

I'll wait to exchange it. She apparently left a note on my file so there shouldn't be an issue with exchanging it whilst still in warranty period!!

At least I'll get a brand new nexus 5 in 10 months time!!!

I have owned both the initial version and the new one. I wouldn't know they were different if someone didn't tell me
