not impressed with DL30

I'm only getting 937 in quadrant. You using your own kernel or something? I'm running super clean.

Are there any good kernels out for Froyo/DL30 yet? After a clean DL09 wipe, like Cory suggested, and then the DL30 upgrade, my phone has been rockin

Unfortunately, no. Since DL30/2.2.1 isn't even official yet, Samsung hasn't released any source, so kernel development will be slow until they do.

I can't wait for a nice undervolted kernel like we had on DL09, aside from less battery life, 2.2 is running perfectly for me.

I don't own a fascinate, but just wanted to say that a lot of us experienced the same frustration with the froyo leak for the Droid 1. But Give it time to run on your handset, at least a day. The dalvik cache needs to build and then things get lightning fast.

Again, not sure if this is the case with DL30 but it definitely was with the Droid 1. Hope it works out for you guys!

i agree..mine works basically the same with some features that are handy (dock audio works, navigate around text easier, flash.

Totally forgot that the dock I bought however many months ago will now function as intended lol

Personally, I'm really pleased with the update. I think the devs that ported it did an excellent job, especially considering that it's all for free. Don't whine and complain that a non-official OS update is going to have bugs unless you can and are going to fix it, seriously. That doesn't help anyone.

I'm loving the 2.2 update. I have 132 apps on my Fascinate and I checked everyone of them and they run perfect. Launcher Pro looks and feels great. I'm now able to view in Dolphin Brower with media player my favorite surf spots in live HD cams from all over the world. (Surfline.com) That I have been really waiting for. Also was able to install Need for Speed Shift and wow it runs great. I'm not sure what anyone's problem is but for me a big thanks to Samsung or Verizon and the one that let us try this leak. Yes my quadrant score is not "way high" but I find that stuff is so overrated. I mean come on folks this is a phone!!! Maybe some think it's a race car, yea I can get to 0 to 60 in ????
I for one am stoked....

Definitely varying mileage here. I'm delighted with DL30. No, there's nothing dramatic, but numerous little tweaks and improvements that I really like. Not to mention support for all of the stuff that requires Froyo, like the new Gmail client.

And it also fixed a maddening Bluetooth audio problem I was having on DL09.

I had a few white-knuckle moments during the process (this was my first time flashing a ROM), but I have zero regrets.

i think froyo is kind of doomed for the fascinate..people will rip it apart finding flaws...i can see the threads now "2. little 2. late, on this 1!"

I cannot express any more than pure joy with this update.

Exchange and and the ti restores were a breeze. Quading at 989 which isn't bad at all.

Now with 0.8 I got a score of 970. People complained after dl09 but it was still better than what we had before. This may not be what people thought would come with froyo but people tend to have too high expectations.

I hate to sound like a broken record, but it's also a leak, so things are not optimized and running the way they normally would, I'm sure.

That being said, this is still a very solid leak.

So I've played around with the DL30 build, and honestly if this is the best that Verizon/samsung can do, they can keep it.

Bugs i've noticed
1. Exchange PIN/Password policy is buggy

The exchange security policy is enforcing a special character on the PIN setting. The PIN keyboard does not have a special character. This is clearly a bug.

The exchange security policy is enforcing a 15 digit password with special characters. This is beyond our IT department's requirements.

2. Screen transitions are slower than previous version. Left/right stutters are common and the whole system is just not as smooth as DL09.

When benchmarking the system in smart bench it is about 1/2 as fast for me. Linpack is higher, but i don't see linpack as a good real world test.

3. Email support is buggy.

The first full sync with an exchange server takes forever and sometimes will only partially sync.

I'm going back to DL09 clean and i'll wait for a better version of Froyo. The extra features are nice, but this isn't nearly as well done as DL09 for me.

Really? What the hell were you expecting? Some people are just impossible to please. If you're not happy with it maybe the Android platform isn't for you. From my experience 2.2 is tons better and things seem to run incredibly smooth. I'm very happy with the 2.2 update. Granted, I don't use the exchange server so I can't sympathize with you on the complains you've made.

Yeah, i think i had some issues when i restored my nandroid that essentially led to this problem. I managed to get everything fixed and back to DL09 via odin to DI01, boot, odin to DL09. Then install the RED cwr from Odin, install DL09 + JT's voodoo 1/23 from the Red CWR and all is now well.

I think that the backup i made just before going to DL30 didn't play well when it restored, or i screwed it up the sequence.

Either way thanks again to Adrynalyne for putting together that cure all odin file way back when.

Re: 2.2.1 Asop email, maybe i'll give it a shot thanks for the file and the reminder (i used the asop email on the DINC), but I'm still concerned about the UI lags and pauses. I know you are an ADWex user, do you see similar issues?

That's almost the exact same procedure I used to fix the issue the first time. Two flashes later it came back. That's the procedure that fixed it on that thread. I also don't think it was your back up that did it either. I flash so much I rarely use my nandroid. I have one, well now 2. One for 2.1 and one for 2.2. I have only flashed back to my nandroid a couple of times. Usually my phone is so screwed up I can't flash back. Lol. I digress. I flashed clean roms. Data and cache wipes. Formated everything. I was in denile about red. I was afraid iwas gonna habe to give up voodoo. Dan was right though, getting rid of red fixed it.

As far as lag. I am only noticing a small differance. Kinda between nonvoodoo and voodoo. Not as smooth as with a voodoo kernel, but still smooter than nonvoodoo 2.1. I'm very happy with it. I don't have to listen to my wifes crap pod any more!!

I'm actually quite pleased at the moment with DL09. I was expecting that Froyo would actually be faster on the Fascinate, but in the most important measure of speed (UI interaction) it's not. When Froyo IS faster i'll give it another shot.

I'm well aware that it's a leak, and this isn't my first time at the rodeo or my first android phone for that matter. I was just starting the thread to offer a place to discuss things other than "OMGz wez gots the froyoz11!!" which apparently is about all that a thread about DL30 can possibly be.

Thanks for the Tip Gunner, i'm going to have to re-evaluate my flashing procedure if that is what taking the red pill leads to...

Don't let bugs get you down - it took 3 leaks of Froyo for the Epic before we got a good solid build.
