Not impressed with the rumored Moto X

Whoa. Missed that line. Sorry Canada.

Yeah, I have a sinking feeling that Bell customers are totally S.O.L. for Moto phones this year. Looks like Rogers gobbled up exclusivity for the X, and given that whenever a phone is an exclusive to one carrier in the USA, then usually Rogers ends up being that carrier in Canada. So I expect the rumored Motorola Droid Ultra phone will also be Rogers only.

Bell's biggest weak spot is variety. They primarily stick to the safe bets and always carry iPhones and Samsung phones, with a very light sprinkle of other OEM's. To be honest I was quite surprised they even carried the HTC One this year. The only reason I stick to Bell at all is that they have the largest service coverage in Canada, and I'm on a heavily discounted grandfathered plan.

That's how it is for a lot of Verizon customers, except Verizon is the carrier that gets the Motorola exclusives, for better or for worse. I wish the top Motorola devices would make it to other carriers here in the States because more people would appreciate their phones, but that unfortunately doesn't happen.

Tbh, if the rumored phone we have been hearing about comes specs and features that some have claimed it has, it would be a giant fail for google/Motorola. It's very underwhelming and can not compete with the big boys.

I am okay with less than super phone specs as long as it does not negatively impact the usefulness of the phone. Look at the new BlackBerry phones. They don't have monster specs, but what they do have is an operating system that works well with the internals to provide the customer with, in my opinion, the fastest most responsive U/I on the market. Go to a store and play with a BB10 device. You will not experience a bit of lag. How is this possible without monster specs? The operating system works well with the components, that's how. Give it a chance.

Out of curiosity, what defines the "big boys"? Is it just latest and greatest internal specs?

If they could release this phone without releasing specs, and it was blazing fast and super smooth, would it be considered a "big boy"?

As others have said, if the hardware and software work great together the "specs" will be a non-issue. The only people who need these crazy quad and octa cores phones are people who game on their phones. The reason we still see lag is b.c poor software optimization. It will all depend on the off contract price of this phone. If they price it at the nexus level they will sell really well.

When comes down to specs in a phone many believe "bigger is better".
I am not ones though individuals. I think we are at point in android that software can be code with mid range processors and perform the same as high end processors. In end it just matter of time if rumors are true if KLP is trying to work on low tier devices then the differences in performance between GPU and CPU will be negligible. We have seen this computers for a while now unless you need computer for specialize task then specification low to high end don't change the perspective of performance of daily tasks.

I used to be a specs freak but I've realized it's not about specs it's about how the software runs on the phone, if the iPhone dual core runs smooth on a dual core. If this phone runs smooth on a dual core i rather have that using less battery than my quad core Nexus 4 (I'm even thinking of selling my N4 to get a Razr HD). Lets just wait and see how it runs and hope it comes out in the UK.

I think that since Android used to have such an issue with lagging, or its lack of smoothness when compared to iOS, that we Android users grew to crave hardware specifications, simple as that.

So if Google and Motorola have engineered a device that runs smoothly, handles everyday tasks, and even changes the game from a software level, who's honestly going to complain?

Exactly!!!!

If the OS is optimized, then it doesn't mean anything if it has a dual core instead of a quad core.

What I hope is that it runs smooth and has a good battery life and camera.

Oh, I also hope it will be available outside the US/Canada.

I think a lot of Android fans have also been waiting for the "iPhone Killer"
Any Android phone that does not absolutely blow the doors off of every single spec the next iPhone could possibly have and squash every complaint any iOS user could make in comparison will be met with disappointment by some.
