Not installing recovery!

Originally I had gROM installed, but I decided to make the switch back to CM7. I installed the update.zip twice, got data and everything working. But for some reason my phone won't root! I used Sons of Korhal, E.Z Installer, and GingerSnap but to no avail.

Why won't it root? I'm currently on ZVD Froyo with no root.

Objective: Obtain root and custom recovery so I can install CM7. Please help!

Have you tried the Gingerbreak method?

Also, how do you know that you are not rooted?
