not receiving all texts

I don't text to too many people, mainly my 2 daughters. Youngest at home, oldest at college. I have noticed at least once a day, while in the middle of texting my oldest daughter, I will hear that I received a text from her (I have separate sound notifications), but I do not see a text from her. When I asked her if she replied to what I asked her, she repeats what she just texted to me. So makes me think that sometimes she might have texted me when I was not around, and I will never know that she texted me, unless she asks me again. So whats happening?

There is an update that is coming soon as can be seen on Verizon's website that is supposed to address this issue. Verizon's webiste says "coming soon" so keep your fingers crossed...
