Not Receiving Gmail over WiFi

Don't know if this is an ICS issue or Verizon or what. When I'm at work I turn on WiFi and turn off data to conserve battery. When I do that...Gmail no longer downloads nor can I receive MMS. Major nuisance. Any ideas or thoughts?

check your wifi, turn your data back on while staying connected to the wifi. i believe you still need data even over wifi for services such as MMS and whatnot.

As far as Gmail is concerned; I sent a Gmail from my desktop MS Outlook to my Gmail. Received it on my laptop Gmail website almost instantaneously...but not on my Razr Maxx. After 20 minutes I turned on data on my Maxx...still no Gmail. I turned off WiFi and, with data on, received the Gmail. I believe it has to do with WiFi being on that doesn't allow Gmail to download. I think the same is true for MMS.

I have always been able to get my emails through Gmail just as instant as my pc when connected to wifi..

It seems that the stock Gmail account doesn't work over WiFi. I downloaded the enhanced Gmail and it works!!!! I had to delete the stock Gmail account so I wouldn't get two of the same emails, but now all is good. Thanks to carracerz14 for confirming that Gmail works over WiFi.
