Not super impressed with the battery life.

Am I the only one? Now granted it's not terrible since it's 5000mah battery but it seems about the same or slightly worse than my S22 Ultra was.

I'm also using WQHD as well which might factor in it.

I know many will say use power saving modes and don't use WQHD but I paid a lot for these phones like Flossy talks about (he uses max settings) so I'm not about to neuter the display settings on my expensive device.

I say set up and use the phone as you see fit.

I like many know battery SOT is a subjective topic as we all set up our phone's differently and use it differently.

I turn Off the battery % in the phone's status bar and just enjoy what it does.

If you feel it necessary carry a portable powerbank..... I do but I haven't had to use it yet.

Use the Battery section in the Device Care to see what's using battery.

I also use sleep and deep sleep mode for a handful of apps and because I can't use 5G I turn that off in Settings and Connections and use Dark Mode.

Battery life for me is a little dismal. I get a day & a half more battery life on my almost 2 year old Note 20 Ultra with a 4500mah battery. My settings on the s22U are conservative & the N20U is in the 'max settings' mode.

I just wiped my s22 Ultra & started from scratch. I was using the Note 20U more than the s22U so I thought maybe I should reset it & see if the general performance improves.

We'll see how it goes...

I can understand you not wanting to disable or turn off the "default function" of the phone when you paid full price for specific features, OP. It's definitely hard when that happens. Hopefully software updates may help things a bit when it comes to battery.

I'm estimating 13 hrs and more screen on time. A couple of disclaimers.

With continuous use, web browsing, YouTube, Netflix, Spotify, emails and other apps, (not games), I'm regularly getting well over 12 hrs screen on time. Tonight for example, I used my S22 Ultra non stop for 2 hrs exactly and my battery dropped exactly 15%. Do the math. That's over 13 hrs screen on time.

It's a bit different with intermittent use and standby. The S22 Ultra doesn't have particularly good standby battery life. Today for example, I left home with about 75% battery and only minimal intermittent use during work hours and after only 7 hrs it dropped to 55%. It's no problem for me as I have a spare 10W charger at work.

Also, using the camera significantly cuts battery life . I don't play games but I assume that would be the same.

But..... continuous use without standby and I easily get more than 12 hrs screen on time. So overall, I'm very happy.

I assume you mean than your S21 Ultra.

I guess I'm not seeing why that's a disappointment, unless the S21 Ultra's battery life was inadequate. All I expect of a battery is that on an overnight full charge, it should get me through a full day of normal use with all features enabled--WQHD+, 120Hz, 5G, WiFi, BT, NFC, GPS, and no power saving. My Note/S Ultras have consistently done that.

I totally agree, turning off features of a phone is ludicrous. If those features are not needed, or wanted, then why purchase this phone? Get less expensive model.

I know in my case, I did not disable any feature when I had the S22 for four days and battery life was not that bad and acceptable, and the one I'm to receive tomorrow will be running at full throttle.

I purchase a cell phone for a few major reasons:
  • Cellular connection to use as a phone
  • Connection for text messages
  • Calendar
  • Occasional surfing the net when needed

And I can get those features from the cheapest Moto on the market, however, I opted to purchase one of the most expensive phones made with a lot of nice, but really not needed features and since I did that, I'm going to use those features or the phone goes back and I get that cheap moto; or remain with my Pixel 4XL.

And my experience with the S22U for four days tells me that it will work for me. However, I might just disable 5G since where I live it is a dream like winning the lotto, and on the one I had for four days, when I traveled and entered a 5G area and I checked, it did nothing I could see for surfing the net to news sites, etc.

(I'll also note, I did the charge to 85% just to see how that would work, and it was sufficient for me, but it was getting down there, but not to the point I was running around looking for a cord to plug into.)

You know......I love the phone. I love the way it looks compared to the Note 20 Ultra. The battery does get me through the day just fine the way I use my phone but I think they've slacked on battery life over the past year. The GW4 isn't as good as its predecessors either.

Have u guys switched off wifi and Bluetooth scanning which is on by default and works in the background...which drains the battery

There are other threads on this already full of tips to greatly improve battery life - might be worth checking those out. Also, remember the phone needs a little while to learn your usage patterns, after which there is a noticeable improvement.

I easily get 2+ days battery life with reasonably heavy "business" usage, meaning everything except games and streaming video. Lots of browsing, emails, calls, texts, music/podcast streaming, etc. WiFi/BT are on all the time and I have the screen running at full resolution, nothing is gimped.

I have my doubts with these numbers.

Would I like for it to last longer, of course ... I don't think anyone would turn down longer battery life. Would I say I'm disappointed with it? Not really and for one reason ... How stupidly fast it charges! This thing charges so fast it's changed my charging habits and constantly obsessing over my current battery level. Like you, I rock everything full throttle but given how much battery I can gain from a quick session on the charger I find myself quite satisfied with the battery on my S22U.

With former devices I would charge overnight and use the phone all day until bedtime again. Now I don't worry so much about charging overnight, or to 100% for that matter. When I can, I throw it on the charger for a quick little top off and unplug and go.

As Flossy would say, this is definitely a , shave and shower phone

I totally agree. Even at my workplace I have an old, slow 10w charger. And even then it charges at a reasonable rate.

I returned my S22 Ultra. Battery life was miserable plus some other things I didn't like. Back using my S21+ until my S22+ comes. Delayed from Samsung, which I'm not surprised about from what I have read here. One thing I wanted to mention about battery is that Nova is just killing my battery and I don't remember that being the case before. Anyone else seen that? Any suggestions for good launchers that aren't battery killers? Even One UI was not great.

Nova one of lighter launchers out there, I would report it to Nova so they aware, what was it at in battery stats?

In most cases that battery drain is caused by widgets going wild in the background and the system wrongly shows that usage under the launcher. You could try removing your widgets and adding them back after a restart.

S22+ battery isn't going to be any better if not worse in your situation where you felt S22 Ultra battery is bad.
