Coming from 2 Windows Mobile devices to a new EVO shift for the wife and a Photon for myself (she has hers mine should be here tomorow)

I have been using Outlook to sync my laptop with both mine and the wifes WM phones. Contacts tasks and appointments are what we would sync. Basically if one of us added something new in our phone after syncing both phones to the laptop anything new would end up on both phones and Outlook on the computer. I use Outlook for some invites and stuff and also enter some seasonal schedules right on the laptop because its easier than puting it in the phone. It was pretty easy to sync via bluetooth and we both knew what appointments the other one had going on in addition to having reminders for the stuff we do together. If possible I would like to keep that same sort of system in place so both phones stay current with each other. It also would be easier to keep Outlook updated and around so that I don't have to learn any new software to send invites and print labels for Christmas cards LOL.

The question is what is the best way to accomplish this?

Here is what I did so far. Wife got her new Shift last week. I synced both the WM phones with Outlook. I set up a gmail account for her. I exported the contacts from Outlook in a comma separated values file then imported them to her gmail account. I then synced her Shift with the gmail account. I then downloaded Google Calendar Sync and proceded to use it to sync Outlook with her gmail account. And again synced the phone with the gmail account. That got her up and running with everything from her Q9c to her Shift.

The only downside I see to this right now is that all of our contacts that we had put birthdays in for ended up showing the birthday up twice in google calendar (and the phone) and that if either of us adds contacts they won't show up on each others phone. Not a deal breaker as the appointments are the big thing we need to keep track of.

The question is when I get my phone am I going to need to have my own gmail account or can I (do I want to?) tie both phones to the same account for ease of syncing? If I have 2 separate gmail accounts I think I would have to switch them back and forth on Google calendar sync to make it work. And or is there an easier way to sync the 2 accounts.

It may be a stupid question, but I tried searching but didnt come up with exactly what I was trying to do. Any advice would be appreciated I am pretty familiar with my WM stuff but a complete Noob with Android

Thanks in advance

Craig
