Note 10 price is gonna hurt if s10 prices are accurate!

I saw MKBHD's video on the Honor with hole punch in the front. I think I would be more annoyed with the hole in a movie vid or just more noticeable for me than a notch. I may have noticed it the first days on my wife's X when it first came out but when I use look at her X or my daughters XS, I don't even think of it.

I think if the higher end S10 have two hole punches or a pill shaped punch in the corner, that would be really odd looking.

If a phone is going to have front cam, IR, Laser sensors or FF speakers, I personally wouldn't mind a couple of cm bezel going straight across or a notch.

Is it even going to sell well, with that non symmetric, in the way notch? Seems Samsung made a profound design miscalculation here. Now there's a non content friendly curve, thinner bezel and notch, more in the way than any other. Sticking with my 9+ and Note 9

Nice nice, not missing iOS? I'm trying to switch over again
I just used my neighbors iPhone 8 plus. They sure have their keyboard up there with the best. I've yet to come across a third party keyboard or stock that can match the iOS keyboard.

Apple sales are suffering because they shot themselves in the foot with their battery deal last year. They offered a battery replacement for $29, with the deal expiring December 31st. So, a large number of people, instead of dropping large sums of money on a brand new phone that was just a shade better than the phones they had, went in, spent that $29,and got a phone that performed like new instead of ponying up for the latest and greatest. Number was something like 11 million people.

That gave them a big hit in the pocketbook, and will keep hitting them through this year.

What bothers me about those prices are the planned obsolescence. I am happy with my LG V20 but LG just announced no more security updates. I bought a laptop 5 years ago for less money and I still get regular updates! If Samsung expects someone to spend over a grand they should provide a guarantee of 5 years of updates. Perhaps not the latest versions of Android but at least security updates and we shouldn't lose out because developers in Playstore do software updates that prevent keeping software we've paid for.

Cellphones don't work the way Windows does (or the way Linux does, with free updates forever for most distros).

A flagship phone (except Google) gets updates for 2 years. A non-flagship phone gets updates for 1 year. A cheap phone gets no updates.

Why the difference?

Windows is rewritten and it runs on all desktops and laptops. Android is rewritten (or a security update comes out) and it has to be rewritten for every single model of every single phone. Huge difference in cost.

If a top of the line phone costs 1600 it should have updates for more than 2 years period

Not to mention the Windows updates come from Microsoft, and people tend to keep hardware much longer. Samsung, or anyone else, would be foolish to do updates on 5 year old hardware few people use.

I have moved from upgrading annually to every other year because of the price increases. The Note 10 will be the every other year so I will probably buy one.

Just no excuse to shut down updates after only 2 years on such expensive hardware. You'd be surprised how many people keep phones for 3 or 4 years. I still use my Note 3 but now many apps no longer function. Again software designers neednt give me new updates but they have shut down old versions of their apps that work on Note 3. iPhones are definitely supplied updates for more years. My friend has a iPhone 6 plus that still gets update and all the software (apps) still work. Like me she seldom updates functional apps.

I still use a Note 3 around my house, I haven't had any issues with apps, but it's mostly just used for media.

I think it all comes down to mass public who are only familiar with name brands such as samsung and apple. Most people have no idea that there's quality phones being made by other companies therefore are willing to pay crazy prices. I for one choose to be a bit more well informed. I for one will never pay 1k for a phone...

If you can show me a phone that has everything the Note has, I will consider it.

I'm sure Samsung will offer their $200 minimum trade-in credit and offer some pre-order bonus as well as savings on their accessories.

If not, I will stick with not paying more than $1,000 CAN for a phone.

Last year I "only" (lol) paid $950 taxes included.

Still on Note8 myself, resisted the 9 so far but might upgrade to one after pie release are out and S10 and the foldable are official as that will give a good indication as what to expect from Note 10, I'll start sticking a tenner a week in a box so when my discounted carrier upgrade are due in November I can get the highest spec. N10 without it hurting to much, carrier upgrade discout plus a small saving and what I get for my N8 (or N9 in case I get a good deal in between) would make it very doable

I hate that I'm one of those that has to have it when they come out. I'm still on my note 8. will get the 10.
