Note 2: restart with power and home button?

How come we can't hold the power button and home button at the same time to do a restart if our phones lock up???

You can boot into the Recovery Menu following these instructions, and from there just select "Reboot System Now": https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-6768
