Note 20 starting at 128GB base storage?

My current and previous phone have 64MB of storage and I've never even come close to filling it up. And that's with traveling to Europe and Asia, taking thousands of photos and dozens of videos, and having all the apps that I want/need. But then, I have my phone backing up everything to Google Drive and deleting what's backed up whenever it is connected to Wi-Fi. I also have used OTG a couple of times to store some movies or tv shows on a USB drive to watch when traveling on trains in China. But, that's easy enough to do and doesn't require my phone to have excessive storage.

If it has an SD card slot, then I'm okay with 128GB as base internal storage. I use my internal storage for apps, which by the way are getting bigger and bigger, and an SD card for media, documents etc.

Agreed if the S20 ultra base model was 256 gb I would have have settled with that. 128 GB is too low for phones starting in excess of $1000.

Just plain wrong
Exactly, I was going to say any normal phone 128GB is fine but for a $1100+ (Note 10+ price) 256GB should be the standard.

This is one rumor I already don't like.

Even the smaller Note 10 came with 256GB base storage. It'd be dumb of Samsung to reduce storage.

Another reason for me not to buy any Note 20 phone. The Note 20 Plus will most likely be very similar in size to the Galaxy S20 Ultra which I dislike. Last year the S10 5G and Note 10 Plus had essentially the same size. Anything taller/longer than the Note 10 Plus isn't for me. Crazy pricing (due to 5G ?)+lower base storage+ the skinny form factor = I'll be getting another Note 10 Plus this fall. 256 GB ROM and 12 GB RAM. Sadly Samsung doesn't sell the 512 GB version in my country.

It's a matter of principle. It doesn't matter if anyone needs, or will use, more than 128 GB of local storage. Whenever you GO BACK from a certain level to a previous level people will complain and rightly so! I personally think 128 is enough but I can see where others may need, or want more. So if you offer 256 one year and then go BACK to 128 the next year you can expect blow-back.

I don't need more than 128gb, in fact, I'd probably be fine with 64gb...BUT, for Sammy to release the S20's (and seems like possibly the Note 20's) with 128gb base after the Note 10's were 256gb base is pretty crappy. And even though I again don't need the space, i'd be hesitant to buy any Sammy flagship with less base storage than the one I'm on now (Note 10+)

With the cameras and 4 and 8k video people will need storage and Samsung happen to sell that as well ??????

Absolutely! I got a Note 10+ and then got the S20 Ultra. Seems like I downgraded a bit but I'm making it work.

256 should be the base but as long as there is an SD card slot for the external storage 128 is manageable.

Why I might not buy the Note 20 (Plus):
1. Base storage of 128 GB. My Note 10 Plus has 256 GB. I've also used 100 GB of my Note 9.
2. The high price which will be in the Galaxy S20 Ultra ballpark.
3. Galaxy Note phones are basically designed for using the S Pen comfortably. Traditionally they've been boxier than S phones. Samsung have been almost consistently increasing the height more than the width of its flagship phones(thus making it easy for them to assert that they've increased the screen size. Videos are less pleasing imo to watch). Ergo if that is done in the Note 20 lineup compared to the Note 10 Plus (which seems to be my limit in this trend) then I'll not buy this year's product. I'll sell my Note 9 and get another Note 10 Plus.
4. I rarely use the camera.... which is a major thrust of Samsung's media campaigns this year.
P.S I wish I could translate all of this into Flossy Carter lingo 😃

That has definitely been a concern for me after seeing the S20 in person. Let's hope the Note 20 keeps the same screen ratio.

Thing is if they make it 128gb it will be so much easier to be NOT interested in it and save a pile of money again :-)

Samsung will send the pieces of the Note20 to our homes and we can assemble them, with varying degrees of proficiency, ourselves. Pre-orders open in May for December delivery.

And for the low low price of only $2499.99!!!

Easier said than done on a tech site.😁

I have and use daily both the Note 9 and Note 10 Plus. Only differences in user experience I encounter are that Note 9 is heavier and has slightly poorer battery life. Looking at the Galaxy S20 Ultra I honestly don't expect anything ground-breaking with the Note 20 phones. As you said most people here have to have that "tech fix". A video I saw yesterday just reiterated my points above. (I just checked and Dave has quietly gotten 2.6M subscribers. Almost double the 1.42M of Flossy Carter 😲🙂)

And Samsung now mass producing eUFS 3.1 storage so that you can run out of storage with your 128gb four times faster

Samsung would be foolish to start at 128. 256 is perfect. The way these phone prices are going up and memory going down...I may just stick with the Note 10+ for another year. I dont mind...I love this phone.

I'm exactly the same, the Note 10 plus is so good that I have no issue keeping it for another year.
I'll rather get myself a new laptop than throwing 1500 quid after a new phone and just get a new phone every other year instead.
Looking back, I had the Note 4 until the Note 8 came out and didn't feel I missed out on anything (ok I probably would have gotten a Note 7 if it wasn't for.. You Know What..)
