So, will I be able to use my Verizon Ultra while in Australia using the dual SIM feature? Or is that not something that'll be available to Verizon customers?

If the model you have supports the Australian carrier's frequencies (and the phone is unlocked, which if it's a Verizon unit, should be after a few months) then yup, you would be able to use the second SIM for it.

That sounds promising. When you say the phone should be unlocked after a few months, you mean 'after a few months' after I purchased it and started using it with Verizon, right? Not 'after a few months' in Australia??
Is there any way I can determine if the phone is unlocked now, before I travel?

Yup, I meant on the Verizon network (they used to be unlocked right out of the box but to avoid re-sales of promotional phones they started doing that 'blackout' period now). You should be able to check the status somewhere in your phone's settings (can't remember where though, I have a factory-unlocked model) or by calling Verizion. If it's a dual-SIM phone, however, it's usually meant so you can use a second SIM for travel so it shouldn't be a problem. Worst case they can always apply a temporary unlock for the duration of your trip but, again, that shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks. I called VZ. Our phones are unlocked 👍
Sounds like I'll need to move my existing number to the virtual eSIM and then add the Australian number via a new physical SIM card. Sound right??

I used to use two SIM cards to separate work relationships and personal ones.

When you say two SIM cards, I assume you mean 2 phone NUMBERS? - since the Note 20 Ultra has a spot for 1 card and a virtual eSIM. Or are you talking about a different phone?
