Note 20 Ultra pre-order thread!

Thank you. When I'm in my vehicle I like a tablet running Waze or Google Maps. When my brother is with me he wants to watch War Machine or The Highway Highwaymen (Netflix) on trips over 90 minutes or so. For the past ten months I've had the Tab S6 mounted just above the in-dash navigation.

I have a small tablet I could do this with...how do you have it mounted?

So I got the email from Samsung this morning (Fedex has been showing the label printed since Saturday), then Cap One says my card was charged and this evening I get the RA..

ordered 512gb ultra verizon and a 128gb non-ultra on the 6th. order status is still placed/created (cancel buttons still there). Website now saying expected delivery Sept 1. Chat support claims Aug 25 expected date. I'm guessing I'll be waiting a few weeks before I get anything. :(

Well now you have just twisted it to fit your argument. I wasn't asking about the plastic parts on cars because that infuriates me when those parts are used in places that heat cycle. I was asking do you in someway consider aluminum to be an inferior metal than stainless steel? My contention is that the aluminum rails on the phone are structurally sound enough for everyday use and is lighter than stainless steel. So there is no real downside the way I see it. If the use of aluminum was causing these phones to bend under pressure then I'd say they need to consider other materials, but as it stands the aluminum is able to do the job without any sacrifice.

I was going to say - how much heavier do we want the phones? My feelings on the Note 10+ was that I really don't think they should get any heavier than this... and the Note 20 Ultra is a tad heavier already. Aluminum is well strong enough for this purpose.

Just got a notification for my package being delivered tomorrow from UPS. It was Origin scanned at the airport. Looks like I will go ahead and put in some PTO for tomorrow and leave a few hours early

I just got a label for the Moga Controller bundle. Oddly says its shipping overnight, faster service than the phone to be delivered same day as the phone, the 19th.

I have serious wrist fatigue after using my phone some days.

Still no charge on my card.... But mine is enroute!

If you’re going to use that analogy I’d say yes as well automakers have definitely gotten cheap using plastic parts and still charging a hefty premium.

Part of engineering any product is to make it as least expensive as possible. Not everything needs to be made of metal as such parts can add cost and unnecessary weight. Not to mention plastics can allow a lot of complex shapes.

As for aluminum, Al is stronger than steel by weight. Where stainless steel may have an advantage is when more internal volume is needed. It can be stronger but it will require a bit more weight. Stainless would also have an advantage in corrosion resistance, but bare Al is pretty good as an oxidated layer forms quickly on the surface and is known for a great deal of general corrosion resistance and surface hardness. But in phones, the Al is likely going to be anodized (perhaps even hard anodized). Personally, as large as phone's are getting I'd prefer a slightly lighter phone. But all of us are ultimately going to be limited by each phone's engineering requirements. And in the end, it's a balance of performance, cost, and weight. Consider how much heavier and costly that hefty car price might be if they weren't allowed to use plastics where it makes good sense.

Not to mention Al is a great conductor of heat while stainless is on the opposite spectrum and does not dissipate heat as well. You love to steel frame phone you will also feel a warmer phone which can be harsh on the internals.

Label created 1217 am but no movement all day. Hope to see it move tomorrow. Maybe get it Wednesday. Says est ship date is 8/20 though. Would it really sit there another 3 days?SmartSelect_20200817-222639_Samsung%20Internet%20Beta.jpeg

It's moving. I just saw it on my way home from work. I snapped a pic because I knew you needed reassurance.

Well Katrina, after what I saw on my FedEx Tracking Manager this morning, I had to redesign your truck in Photoshop! I'll post my Shipping Manager Results first to explain why, then the picture... look closely at the lower, rear side of the truck and the actual rear door area!!!

Note the arrival/departure times to/from three different towns in two different States!

Maybe this GE F110 Military Jet Engine stuffed in the back of their new "Supersonic" Series Trucks is their secret...

Hahah...I had to pull out the laptop! Lol!!! You so silly! :)

Movement on my orders. One is a case and one is the phone... The accessories are moving but the phone is not.

Lol. Right up until the driver gets sucked into the engine...😅

I don't know if I'd agree it's on the opposite of the spectrum. It's still a metal and metals aren't very good insulators. Plus, the frame is not really designed as a great rejection device. In fact, if the heat sources are not placed along the edges of the phone, if speculate the frame does very little to reject heat no matter the material.
