Note 21 Ultra?

Same.. I never thought about moving on from Samsung until recently and I am still weighing what the options will be. Indeed they aren't pushing envelopes and their strategy seems to be all over the place. Mimicking Apple is the worse areas is another negative. Also - it seems like they are constantly getting rid of things even in the phone.. Got rid of a lot of Samsung Pay incentives, got rid of their cloud service, got rid of feature after feature in Samsung Health. I feel like every few weeks I get a notification that another feature is going to be canceled. I don't feel like they are focused on their smart phones themselves as they are focused on introducing more ways to fold your phone.
As much as I like the fold 2, they need to realize that not everyone will want that. They need to stay focused and stop copying apples nickel and diming tactics.

Yes yes yes!
I'll be one of the people pointing and laughing.

I agree with flossy. I think it's a step down going to the S21 from the note 20. I don't think the S21 is a bad phone, just not worthy the upgrade from note 20.

Depends what u want. Obviously it's a downgrade when it comes to s-pen. For everything else it's an upgrade

And loss of sd card. And the upgrade really is small for everything else if we want to be honest, but that's the case for the last few years TBH.

I am justifying why it's not worth upgrading to it, you are justifying why it is worth it. It's matter of opinions is all

I keep forgetting SD card slot, I haven't used it in many years. It also depends how much you pay for it. My S21U came out like $150 bucks in the end

Yes the promos help in price that's for sure. I'M realizing the SD card is probably going away and I get it's not as fast as internal memory, but I'm old school and they are nice to put the pictures on and easily movable to computers and devices. Speed really isn't a issue for stuff like that.

I think the S21 series is a good phone and I might have bought the ultra if the S pen was embedded. I know the S series isn't known for S pen and I criticized the Spen not being embedded heavily and that's because I'm fearful that samsung will carry that over to the note or fold series. The S pen on the fold if embedded would be great and I will probably get it, if it's not embedded a big reason for me to get it is gone and I may skip another release. If the front camera hole is under the screen hidden is another reason, if that rumor comes true.

IMHO the S21U was not intended to be an upgrade to the Note 20U. The Note and S series aren't really supposed to be upgrades of each other but because some people seem to like to change their phones every 6 mos now, it became that way. Then they have expectations that there are going to be generational upgrades every 6 mos which is a bit ridiculous when in reality the S21 should be compared to the S20.

That's probably also another reason why the question exists of why have both the S and Note series out there.

By taking the SD card away, they force you to buy extra internal phone memory, for those of us who like to carry a lot of things on the phone. That also means that every time we upgrade the phone, we are buying that memory again. I haven't had an SD card fail since the Palm days. They can last over several phones. the only time I change them is when I upgrade them to get a bigger size. They are transferable. And they are way cheaper.

It's going to be quite some time before I get another phone if I'm losing the SD card, unless Samsung more or less starts giving away upgraded internal storage space. Make 512gb standard for the same price. Then I'll think about it. My note 20 ultra is only around 6 months old. I can keep it for a couple of more years without even thinking about it. Maybe more. I might be more inclined to buy another
than get a 21 or 22 without an SD card slot, if for some reason I needed an emergency upgrade. It's going to be a while before I'm going to feel compelled to upgrade this phone, and this issue is going to be a major disincentive.
