I've got a question about the blocking mode feature on a note 3.
The standard blocking mode feature is great with a few tweaks. What I need is something that will automatically turn off sounds for everything BUT phone calls and text messages from time A to time B. If someone is calling me at 3 a.m., it's an emergency. If I get a text message it too is an emergency. (On call dispatch message or my burglar alarm is going off if I'm at work or on vacation) I want to block all other notifications and email sounds. I don't care that Photobucket had a sale or AT&T is offering a uverse update. Phone calls and text messages at 3 a.m. are emergencie to me and to me job. Anyone had any ideas? Any app that'll handle it? Automatically?

Try an app called Agent in the apps store. It will let you do exactly what you are wanting and much more. I have been using it for awhile. It will text then and tell them how to reach you or let repeat calls through. You can setup specific numbers to come in while silencing all others. Just make sure you go through all the settings and get them all setup.

Tasker can have a profile triggered by Photobucket (or another app) and, if the time is between A and B, set the notification level to 0, pause for 10 seconds (or 10 minutes, or however long the app will keep the notification tone going), then reset the notification volume to full (or whatever level you prefer).

I'm using it sort of that way to change my screen timeout depending on the app running in the foreground. I don't want it to go black if I'm reading a blog or working on an app that takes about 8 minutes, but may have 2 minute periods when I'm not touching the phone.

I looked at agent. But to respond to a text at night with another text with instructions on how to get through won't work. My texts that come in late at night are computer generated and sent out to 5-9 people at a time depending on the crew being dispatched. What I need is something that turns off email notification, and bs notifications from apps or update notifications, and allows all phone and text messages to go right through. Right now, if I turn off notifications, I lose text messages. I have phone unblocked. If I unblock notifications to allow text, then I get email also with Crap from photobucket and AT&T, tigerdirect, and every other spam sender out there. For example, I have direct deposit. At 5 a.m., they email me my check stub. Why 5 a.m.? No idea. But they won't change it. To block that notification sound, I block text sounds, which block emergency dispatch texts.

You can pick who can text or call you in the app. So all others will be silent. So as long as you have the phone number in your contacts then it will allow the text to come through. But if you don't like agent another way to keep your email and other notifications quiet you could turn off sync in your settings. That should keep your phone a little quieter. It will keep email from coming in and other apps from sending updates.
