Note 3 - Crackle and Pop noise when using AUX?

I was looking for a "shielded" aux cable and couldn't find one. The geek squad at best buy didn't even know what I was talking about. They tested my note 4 and assured me that it was in good working form. I didn't have time to go out searching for something I wasn't sure existed. So I just bought a blue-tooth aux cable. It works fine now.

Just to mention, I never had this problem with any of my apple phones/tablets. I don't see why all of a sudden I can't use a regular aux cable with my new note 4. It's an amazing piece of technology, it certainly is. It's just that, I buy these things to simplify my life. Not complicate it more. This was a annoying hassle to deal with.

I just upgraded to the Galaxy S5 and now I am having this problem as well. Between each sound there is a very loud click which is quite disturbing when I'm trying to play music in the car. Glad to see it's not just me. I bought a new cable and that didn't seem to help.

The two choices advised to me was to either get a new car or buy a WiFi aux cable. A decent one cost me about 60 dollars. Nobody suggested exchanging it for an iphone. Which I would have done if the time limit for an exchange wasn't expired. This android phone is really depressing me everyday. Everyday I find something horrible with it. It's a nightmare.

Most of the time when i have this problem, it is because the wires in the auxiliary cord broke, usually right at the back of one of the ports. if you notice a difference in the problem when you wriggle the wires or the port itself, then you just need a new auxiliary cord.

Thats not the case. Its ok, i just bought a blutooth aux and theres no noise now. I but yeah, there was nothing wrong with the cords cause i tried multiple aux cords, most of them brand new.

I have a Note Edge and am experiencing this in my car as well.

I had a first generation Note GT-N700 and never had this issue on both stock firmware as well as Cyganon Mod.

Now using the Note Edge, I have this problem, it sounds like the audio is cutting out when a song ends to save power, and it creates this popping noise which is very annoying. No power saving settings on at all.

If anyone has any ideas, that would be great. It seems reasonable to assume it is not the audio system as the only variable that changed here is the phone.

It can happen if the coupling capacitor for the audio output is leaky (the DC level shift on the motherboard side of the capacitor isn't supposed to leak through to the earphone jack side, and it is). In the case of a phone, that means a motherboard replacement, because no one replaces components any more.

So if our phones are still on warranty, we can get a repair /replacement?

Seriously? This is the quality we can expect from one of the best Android phones in existence? A HUGE back step in audio quality? I too have this issue with my Note 4, after using an HTC One, iPad, iPhone 4, 4s, and my wife's iPhone 6+. My note 4 is the ONLY device that has this problem. And honestly, the reason is some indecipherable tech mumbo jumbo flux capacitor UN-FIXABLE hardware issue? Ridiculous and unacceptable.

I was having the same problem. I rolled firmware back with Oden to 4.4.2 trying to fix an issue with my battery life and this and now it's not doing this anymore as well as fixing my battery life. Keep in mind ive got the same car, same cable same stereo.

Could there be something in the 5.0 and beyond update that causes this? My wife's S5 still makes the buzzing and pop sounds.

I have the note 4 and im EXTREMELY ANNOYED AND READY TO SUE SAMSUNG over the extremely LOUD POP NOISE between songs that is causing my ears to be damaged. This noise is LOUDER than the loudest music, in fact it uses the entire dynamic range of the phone's amplifier. My note 2 did not have this problem when i hooked it to the same exact car amp and aux cord so i know the problem is just this phone. I was wondering if anyone had a solution to this that might include keeping the phone's amplifier on wether or not a sound is active. If not, could someone write a program that can do this? Im really stumped as to what to do because it would be more of a hassle to warranty exchange than buy an mp3 player, which i should also not have to do considering i already am spending $700 on this phone. Ive also tried checking to see if it is due to power saving mode but it was already off.

The wonderful thing about forums like this is that it is the blind leading the blind. The original problem morphs into another issue and no one gets a definitive answer. Unfortunately, this crowd sourcing a solution is not very effective when few if any of the respondents really have the knowledge needed. Samsung representatives are too cheap to reply here.

its the wire you're using, changed it to my headphone wire (beats solo) popping has gone when playing and pausing and when switching between tracks. idk the technicallities of it but yeah.

Just replying since no one has come to the rescue. There are many reasons this can happen. The cord or other issues I can not trouble shoot but can be the culprit. I've even witnessed this happening due to the cord wrapping around itself in a funny direction and crossing back and forth, very strange. The problem arises when there is a power interference of some sort. The pop happens when you plug it in because the Aux is making a connection with the housing, same happens when you unplug. This happens to various degrees and loudnesses depending on a number of factors. What I understand is that the android goes into a power saving or similar mode when playing, then between songs 'wakes up' and you get this power interference. The only way to avoid this is to power the speakers off when plugging the aux cable into your audio device. This happens with all devices, no exceptions. Since this happens between songs on the android I can only assume you have to change the settings or there is no fix until they update the firmware. I've never had an android so am just speaking from what I know about similar issues with other devices. Good luck. Often times it seems like a ghost, and buying a new cable can fix it, but only for so long.
