What amazes me is how so many people seem to forget the impact the carrier has on the phone. There are so many factors in getting a phone updated i am just proud to get a update at all.
History tells us it will be atleast a few months up to sometime the middle of next year, particularly for those of us in the US. I would expect the UK and countries that don't have carrier locked bloat will get it before years end. That has actually always been the case with Samsung (all really)phones. ATT, Verison, T-Mo, and Sprint all slow down deployement becuase of crap that want to do to the software. It will be intersting to see what happens with the MotoX now though.
That is the advantage of the Nexus phone. It is from Google and controled completely by google. Nothing extra to develop or tweak to get a new build out. If getting updates as absolutely fast as you possibly can you shouldn't look at anything other then a nexus. If it is still important but not so that you can't wait a little while get a International Unlocked version of your phone. Those of us that deal with Carrier crap are going to be last.
Someone asked about OTA vs Kies. I believe Galaxy phones since the Galaxy S2 can do their updates OTA. Allot of times some carriers force it through KIES to reduce data usage. I am not really sure how it does that since they will force you to be on WIFI to download the update though. The update is the exact same thing though. KIES can be a real PITA though to get working.
It will be here. It just takes time and for thouse of us with Carrier subsidized locked phones it will be longer then the rest.
