Note 3 Random Notification Sounds?

Solved mine!
Ok - so I was having this problem with my Note 4.
At one point it was sitting on my desk doing it continuously for 10 seconds, until I picked it up, and it stopped.
I then realised that it had been sitting on my passport....which has the chip built into the cover. Sure enough, unlocked the phone and put it against the passport a number of times and sure enough, that was the cause.
Only then did I realise the notification sound was exactly the same as when trying to do NFC transfers between phones, when you touch them together.
It has happened without my passport nearby, but could be interference on the NFC from something else. Very rare though.

Re: Galaxy S5 Random Notification Sounds?

In response to some of your issues, I too have faced the same 'notification ringing' without a clue. That is, until I read a result by one of you kind people.
So far, and this is in the last 5 minutes that I haven't heard the 'ding', I went into my phones SETTINGS...ACCESSABILITY...and under the VISION heading I scrolled down to NOTIFICATION REMINDER. It was ON!!! AND, it was scheduled to ring every 5 minutes. Well, I completely turned it off, and so far, no ding. Will keep my fingers crossed, or, the hard reset is next.
Quint
this has worked for me so far.

YOU ARE A GOD!!!!!!
Had this problem for the last 3 days and i was going crazy. Was about to do a factory reset but im glad i kept reading through the posts.
3 days? I've had my note for a year and a half and just gave up on disabling it. This has saved me from throwing it against the wall to shut it up. My wife says it wakes her up in the middle of the night. Not anymore!

You are right. I use a cover which can hold my magnetic card, every time the card is close to the back of phone, there are noti sound. When I turn off NFC function, the sound disappears. That's surprised.

Maybe someone else can help me with this as well.
I keep getting a random notification sound with no visual as to what it is. The sound is 5 tones going in a desending pattern and sounds metallic. I do not have NFC turned on nor facebook app. I checked all my apps and sounds. I even read this whole thread and tried everyone's suggestion. Still does it. I searched my phone which is a note edge BTW for *.ogg and *.wav files. Nothing.
I do have a wallet case but since NFC is off its not that. I've never heard this sound before. It o ly started a few days ago and I've have this phone for over a month. I'm running the Hola launcher and omni swipe. Any suggestions?

I went to Settings, then Sound, then Default Notification, then chose Silent.

The Default Notification was previously set to the noise I kept hearing, so I'm hoping this works, but I have not given it time to test it out yet.
