Note 3 random shut down and will not reboot

My note 3 randomly shuts down and I have to pull the battery multiple times before it will reboot. It normally doesn't stay on very long after I turn it back on. I've realized that it only works normally when I use a Samsung charger. What is wrong here?

It only works while the charger is plugged in? (A Samsung charger tells the phone that it's a wall charger, not a USB port on a computer. Most other chargers look like USB ports to Samsung phones.) That would indicate a battery teetering on its last legs, and you have to replace it. (The good news is that an Anker battery - I prefer them - for the 3 is only about $15.)

No it will work off the charger but shuts down frequently. Takes a lot to reboot. It stays on much longer if I use a samsung charger

Have you tried a factory reset? What software is the phone? 4.3? 4.4? 5.0? And how long have you used it for?
