I didn't see a topic for this. Has anyone heard if the display is Pentile? I don't want to start a Pentile vs non-Pentile debate, but it's important to me.

I would love to know for sure as well, since i am currently suffering with the long term effects of a pentile display on my gnex. The banding has gotten worse over the last 6 months.

Also, does anyone know if more modern AMOLED screens still have a problem with burn in under normal conditions? I have it pretty bad on the gnex when it comes to the on screen buttons area and notification bar. Anyone have any issues with the S4 by chance?

.... Anyone have any issues with the S4 by chance?

Would like to know that too.

Also, if a mod could put a ? at the end of the title, that would be great. Didn't realize the title of the thread is almost like a statement that the screen is Pentile, when we don't know for sure yet. Thanks.

Everyone is simply stating the party line, SuperAMOLED and that's it.

Raptor, did we say we were not getting this beast if it was Pentile? LOL.

Phil forgot to take his microscope to Germany. Oh well, I'm sure we will know soon enough.

If it's worth anything, Arstechnica states that it's non-pentile in their first impressions. Many other impressions also state that the screen is brighter than the S4, so perhaps It isn't the same screen as the S4.

Nice find, thats the first site i've seen even bring it up. I hope it turns out they are right. If true, I wonder why they favor non pentile for the Note series? Is pentile cheaper to produce? It would make sense as a cost cutting measure on a high volume phone like the S4 if thats the case.

Nope, I never said you weren't getting it. What I said was everyone (meaning the news/tech sites) were reporting the party line that its SuperAMOLED. No one knows for sure . . . yet.

I will say I have been rockin an S3 for just under a year, send/receive about 9,000 texts a month, average about three/three and a half hours of screen time a day, at 50% brightness or less, and I have no effects of burn in.. Sucks I'm not eligible for an upgrade until next June, I'm liking what I'm hearing about the Note 3!

I've had my GS4 since release and so far there's no sign of burn in. My GNex had it bad though after only a few months.

Not that I would encourage it but there is Next of course. But its a total rip off. This is why I returned my GS4 after 10 days and decided to ride out the storm while I waited for the GN3. So glad I did.

There are a few issues with that article.

1. This guy is making assumptions based on specs, and probably doesn't have a phone
2. He is spewing the typical complaint about pentile displays true or not with out having any evidence of the pixel layout.
3. Pixel density at 1920x1080 @ 5.7" should be beyond most peoples visual ability to see. That is well over 300ppi.

I agree with Craig King on this one. Their use is based on what, hands on at IFA, they don't even bother to update the article the next day when pricing HAS been announced and they clearly show a bias towards pentile displays. I had the GN2, GS3 and GS4 and I never felt the screen was "fuzzy", I found them all to be super sharp.

386 PPI, I've read. It will be pretty damn sharp.

As far as pentile goes... yeah, that will kill this for me, personally.

Imo, I would prefer 720p RGB over pentile. pentile has 2/3 the number of subpixels. I think if they went from 720p RGB to 1080p pentile, then it would not really be much of an improvement
