Note 3 signal reception?

It is all relevant to individual experience I guess because so far more people have said the signals are much better, including myself.

THE BEAST,,NOTE 3. SIZE IS EVERYTHING!!!

So I've been looking to upgrade to the note 3.
But since I live where there's a very low signal, I would like to find out how's the phone reception compared to Iphone's?
Typically I get no bars in the house on my old HTC desire HD, but the wife and daughter on there Iphone's (4s) get 2 bars on the same network.
I heard that the Samsung galaxy S4 isn't to good at getting reception which worries me for the note 3.

Any one did some back to back tests against Iphone's signal yet?

I have an ATT iPhone 5. My 5 had a signal of 107 and the Note 3 was 111 to 113. I had to return the Note because it went down to edge and even gsm while my iPhone always holds 4G (HSPA+). I could get pages to load and Trying to have Falcon Pro run with the poor reception was tough even with a mobile web.

I think it must be an ATT thing, quite a few people on ATT have had the same complaint. I have Sprint and get better reception than with the Note 2. Interesting.

Again each will have a different experience. I have had the GS2, GS3, Note 2 and now Note 3. all while living at the same house and working at the same location, however I have not ever had any 2 phones at the same time, and I did not look at the signal db. But I do know there were locations where, if I were on a call on the Note 2 it would drop (almost every morning, I have a conference call on the way to work, so I would have to time it to not reach those areas while on the call), so far the Note 3 has not dropped in those areas. So my experience is with the same carrier and same locations, the Note 3 is better (for me).

Oh, and if I add all the other phones I have had, you will know I am a phone junkie. The Note 2 is the ONLY phone I ever felt I could keep for a full year, hoping the 3 will be the same.

Ok well I've conducted a simple test and here it is. Seems the Note 3's radio is substantially less sensitive than that of the Note 2's The following image shows both devices running KAIBITS Network Signal Info app. Both were out of their external cases and the Wi-Fi was turned off. As you can see, the Note 3's receive signal was measured at -110 dBm, while the Note 2 measured in at -104 dBm. That's a 6 dBm difference!! Now let me shed some light for those with little or no RF knowledge. +3dBm doubles your signal, while -3dBm cuts it in half!! So in essence if I take the Note 2's signal and cut it in half TWICE, that's what the Note 3 is receiving!!! DSC01388.jpg

I upgraded from a Note 2 on Friday to my note 3 (sprint). I now get 4g LTE in my house, where before I could only get it in my bedroom. My signal is also overall better than my note 2, my wife's iPhone 5, and my son's 5s. So I am very happy with the phone so far. Also zero wifi issues so far, work, home, and my friends house work perfectly.

Yes but that's relevant to YOUR carrier and YOUR signal strength where you are. That's does not mean that's law. Everywhere I have been I have had much better signal strength with my 3 then I have had with my 2.

Can you do a similar test with wifi?

I just returned my Note 3 on At&t because of poor reception which drained my battery 25% over night. I was sending texts out and not getting replies, then I wake up next morning and get all my replies at the same time. I loved the Note 2 and could have kept longer. Going back to Apple. I ordered the gold iphone 5S. "It just works" is so true

Also thought S pen was harder to get out and back felt like Note 1.

I hope you dont rely on Maps. They are still trying to figure that out a year later after the google maps drop. Wait, maybe you don't care about battery either. If you think 25% is bad overnight, I can't wait to see how you feel about your iphone battery during the day. Apple has not significantly changed the size of their phone and yet keep putting more and more power in them. Battery is practically the same size. This is not a good thing. Biggest complaint I hear from iOS7 updaters is that battery sucks again. They all then follow up by saying that Apple will fix it in the next hotfix. I wish I could have customers like them in my industry.

Oh yeah I forgot about Apple maps taking people off cliffs... I guess "it just works"? :x.

Unfortunately not. I took it into AT&T this morning and we were able to replicate my results using a side-by-side with their Note 3 demo using both the KAIBITS Network Signal Info app and the native "Status" info. They ended up replacing my Note 3, which I tested again against their Note 3 and both displayed very similar readings. With that being said, they're probably are a few "early adopter" Note 3's out there with subpar radios. I pre-ordered that one on the day AT&T started taking orders, so its probably fair to assume it came from an very early production batch.

really weird for me... at home where NO OTHER device has LTE signal besides my friends NOTE 2... with my NOTE 3 i have LTE as well .. i live right on the boarder of LTE coverage.
at work where i get full LTE signal with my other device ... i am only getting 4G signal with my Note 3..
no idea what's going on!

Had an opportunity to observe a T Mob GN3 side by side with a T Mob LG G2 today. The LG G2 was pulling -113 db of LTE and the GN3 was pulling -113 db LTE. The GN3 was indicating 1 bar in status bar and the LG G2 2 bars. I've seen quite many accolades touting the LG G2's signal reception prowess, so I think this bodes well for the GN 3.
