Hi
I have my older Note 3, unlocked from At&t. I'm with T-Mobile now with the S7 Edge. But other than faster performance and camera I don't see a major difference in productivity. I used the IR blaster on my note quite often. I can live without that. But I used the Soft Card quite a lot. Now I can't use the Android Pay on my note as it says it's incompatible. I see many reported the same issue. Did anyone have success with using Android Pay on their Note3? I'm considering returning my S7 edge and sticking with my Note.

I'm not too keen on devices without expandable memory. So note 5 is ruled out. Note 6 not out yet. Nexus doesn't have it. Note 3 is pretty much an all-round great device.

Samsung Pay requires MST hardware in order to work.

The Note 3 does not have dedicated MST hardware and as such, isn't compatible.

You can try using Android Pay if you want. Note that you can only use it in certain places and you need a good passcode since the N3 doesn't have a fingerprint scanner.

So essentially Note 3 is useless when it comes to using it for payments. That's disappointing. It's a great device for everything else.

I tried installing Android pay but it said my device is incompatible. I have lollipop on my note 3.

I totally get what you are saying. The Note 3 is a great device still and did some great things with the SD801 processor. Samsung pay uses MST for legacy card swipe and NFC for new terminals. It isn't the lack of MST that is keeping the Note 3 from being samsung pay/android pay capable. It is something to do with the NFC chip in the phone. Basically it does support a security element needed for modern mobile pay systems. Unfortunately no way around it. I was very disappointed as well when I discovered it.

Lastly the Note 3 is stuck on android 5.0 and is unlikely to get a software update. So any software vulnerability found now will remain unless you run custom roms.

The S7 is on android 6.0.1 and will likely get at least upgraded to Android 7.0 when it is released.
