Try Google Messenger, released last month. I've been using it for SMS on my note 3 and am able to reply through the watch. Better looking UI versus Hangouts.

Yes, use Google Messenger and the latest Gmail app that supports all email including Exchange email. All texts and email are easilly readable with individual cards for each message. Disable the stock apps. The stock apps on Samsung are terrible for anything other than Samsung smartwatches!

True about Samsung. I also have a Samsung Gear Fit and it has no problems displaying text of stock Samsung apps.

I prefer sammy stock email to gmail because I prefer each email separate rather than long conversations in gmail that make it difficult to find ONE particular email from months ago. I also hate google messaging and prefer stock messaging. My work email will not work in gmail...I've tried and tried.
