No my wife has the very same phone, she can't use bbc iplayer either, same build same model.

No it's not specific, it was fine in kit kat. So it's not an issue with my phone.

My iPlayer is now working using 5.1.1 and after signing up to the beta programme.

If anyone is still having problems, an alternative is to sign up to the BBC's HTML5 beta test (sorry, can't post links)

This will allow you to watch iPlayer within the browser. I've just tested this and it works.
