So I have decided to leave my HTC one m8 and now I am deciding between a note 4, moto x, or a nexus 6. I should note that the phone is going to be a carrier version since I can't afford to buy it outright.

As far as hardware goes I'm pretty much in love with the note 4. My only pause is its software. Don't have much experience with touchwiz, but I know lots don't like it and it seems to cause delays with updates. How are Samsung with update releases?

I do like stock android a lot, especially material design. It's my favorite form of android. But should that trump what I consider to be a hardware advantage with the note 4? How much can I make the note like stock android?

Which do you think is the best carrier android phone right now?

Samsung software sucks expect 3 months or more for source code.

Usually 6 for carrier updates, the note looks good in pr videos. You think cool I'll use all those s pen functions everyday but you never do.

Most people get the note for the screen size like I did for the note 3.

Just get nexus if you want larger size.

These phones fit fine in jean and coat pockets. Touchwiz lags the phone trust me stock android is much much faster no matter what you do.

Samsung has a removable battery which is a consideration 10-14 moths from now depending on use patterns. Maybe longer until it matters, unless you sit watching videos 8 hours a day the non removable doesn't matter much.

Other than that I would say in the west Sony, HTC, LG, moto or Google are all good.

HTC for software, Sony build quality, LG screen tech and last two for software experience.

Motorola may be different going forward due to lenovo but that doesn't matter in present day.

Well, the S5 and note 4 and edge are supposed to get lollipop next month I believe. That doesn't seem too long.

But yeah, I think I'd like stock android more. But from what I've used of touchwiz in kiosk demo it doesn't seem too bad.

It slows down after few months you'll be reformatting. Idk if that is also case with stock as I have only had nexus 7 for few weeks and have not used heavily.
