Note 4 USB 2.0 lol....

I think they did it because of the upcoming type C USB coming out which will be backwards compatible with 2.0. Either way I am glad. The 3.0 connector was very fragile and unreliable. I went through 3 note 3's. I just stopped using the 3.0 cable after the third one. I'm glad they changed it back.

Charging time is fast if not faster than the Note 3. (From having both). My experience is that it is the complete opposite of durable. I have had 3 note 3's replaced because this hallowed 3.0 connector. In my opinion good riddance. Only drawback I see is the data transfer. Again this is my experience.

No its not. Please stop lying. I had the Note 3 and received my note 4 last week early. My note 4 and note 3 charged at the same rate.

Re: USB 2.0 lol....

I recently purchased a Kindle Fire HDX with a micro-USB 2.0 wall charger from Amazon. When I plugged my SG3 into the Kindle charger, charge times went from overnight to 2-3 hours. So quick charging doesn't require USB 3.0.

But I do want USB 3.0 for data transfer speeds, so if Samsung downgraded the Note 4 to USB 2.0 to increase their profit margins, it may have backfired because I'm going to get the SG5 for the USB 3.0 and IP67 protection (although I'd love to have the bigger screen, faster processor and 3GB of RAM of the Note 4).

Maybe Samsung should come out with an SG6 with the above Note 4 features and lose the stylus to save space if that was their reasoning for dropping USB 3.0.
They have already said nobody used it*

*not enough people to put it in the note 4

I don't think Samsung will be that upset if you went and bought another one of their products.
I also don't think it will affect sales since this is not a main selling point, IMO.
I didn't think twice about this change when making my decision. However, others may need water and dust protection and/or USB 3.0.

With adaptive charging the note would charge substantially faster with charger and cable that came with the phone

And this is still a niche product. Samsung still probably sells more galaxy S phones then they do of note phones.

They abandoned usb3 on the N4

The industry is abandoning USB 3... it isn't cathcing on in the mainstream. There are far too many people who don't know about the backward compatibility... .and the new reversible cord (USB 3.1?) is very nearly ready to be standardized. I would expect that to be the next wave of connectors.

Samsung favored a rapid battery charging ability of USB 2.0 over a faster data transfer rate of USB 3.0.

Samsung's preference and I do not object! Rapid charging is really quick.

I'm a Note 3 owner and the change to go back to USB 2.0 in Note 4 puzzled me... until my 3rd USB 3.0 cable failed to stay connected. I have one working 3.0 cable and I use it to kick test APKs over to the phone when I'm playing in Unity or UE. I assume the data transfer is faster. These cables are garbage and Samsung made the right move in my opinion.

Re: USB 2.0 lol....

Then they should have gone with USB-C which has better speeds than USB 3.0 not back to USB 2.0
How would they? Weren't the USB-C specifications released early this year, months after the Note 4 was designed?

I'm actually rather glad it's USB 2.0. I use wireless charging so the speed is mostly irrelevant, and when I wanted to use a USB 2.0 cord in my Note 3 I could never get it in right. That concerned me about monkeying up the port.

I keep several USB 2.0 cords connected and active on a surge protector for my devices and the USB 3.0 took up an extra outlet and was white (ugly, ugly, ugly. Hate white accessories (JMO). Everything in my office is black except for Sammy's ugly white cord. I put it away and never used it, just like my Note 4 charging cord. AFAIK they're only good for updates and rooting.
