Note 5 ATT Sim in Unlocked Verizon Note 5

I was in Best Buy today to look at Note 5 after I swore I would not buy one. But guess what that all changed with my pre order officially being placed.
Im buying the phone outright. As I was making my ATT Note preorder one of the guys said I could purchase the Verizon Note 5 because it was unlocked and I could save $40 because it's cheaper than the ATT 839 price. I was just about to do it but then someone else said I may suffer poor LTE speeds with my ATT Sim in a Verizon unlocked phone. Can anybody verify if this is true? I would love to save $40 if I could just get the unlocked Verizon Note 5. However, 40 is not worth a bad coverage experience. But I would like to know.

The Verizon one doesn't support lte band 17,att primary lte band. It does support some of att secondary lte bands.

Thanks, thats all I needed to know. Figured as much so I ended up pre ordering the ATT anyway. 40 bucks wasn't worth the chance.

Kind of looking to flip the original posting here, but I'm looking to buy a Note 5 to use on Verizon. I have a friend who has an AT&T one that he says is unlocked. Will an unlocked AT&T Note 5 work on Verizon?

I have an AT&T Note 5 that I unlocked through AT&T. When I put my gf's Verizon SIM in, I don't get any signal. Someone mentioned that I might need to get Verizon APN settings.

Absolutely not. Verizon won't allow any lte device on its network without lte band 13, which the att note 5 doesn't have.

Apn is for mobile data and mms. But voice and text should work without setting up apn.

The Verizon Galaxy Note5 has LTE band 2, according to the spec(link at the bottom of this reply)

AT&T uses LTE band 2 in my town.(according to my iPhone and unlocked S7 field test mode and LTE discovery app)

However, if I insert AT&T SIM card into the Verizon Note5, it only picks up HSPA+ and not LTE.... HSPA+ gets about 7mbps download speed on AT&T SIM in Verizon Note5. Is there a way to force Verizon Note5 to pick up AT&T LTE band 2?
