Note 5 Battery life thread

So it's extremely easy to get ridiculous battery life. Want to know the trick?

Charge it up to full before you go to bed. Unplug it. Don't use it all night. Get up 6-7 hours later and it's only reduced 3-4%

Then use it.

Attached you will see my incredible battery stats. He'll, I could have screen on for next 6 hours for 7.5-8 hours SOT and over 30 hours of battery.

So you can post these Unreal stats but here's the truth.

When I get up and it's still plugged in, and I use it all day moderate to heavy use, I get 10-12 hours. Why? Cause I didn't inflate how it looks by having it unplugged and not being used. Of course you'll get results like that.

But they are not real results.

Unplug your phone and start using it like you would all day long. Again if you're like me it'll last you most of the day and with a quick 10-15 charge easily last 15 hours. That's plenty.

Everyone else posting these 2 day or 1.5 day stats either isn't using that phone very much like a PHONE or doing what I did.

Actually that isn't it. Your screen is barely used. It doesn't matter if you charge it in the morning and then use it all day and then it idles at night after the day of use or you charge at night and then it idles.

All of us that get good battery stats have had our screen as our number one use of the battery.

My screen is 19% of my battery use and the top one with over 7 hours on, yours is 3% and way down the list.

If you only charge your phone once a day, it is going to idle or stay plugged up overnight. Idle is good on this phone, there is no reason for me to keep it plugged up overnight after the battery is full.

24 hours is 24 hours and 7 hours of the screen on is 7 hours.

Agree with you, You beat me to it but that is definitely correct.

For you guys getting 7 hours SOT, what is your screen brightness set to? I barely get 4 hours SOT but my brightness is 3/4 of the way up

Mine is lower, but it is on auto brightness. With auto brightness, it doesn't matter where you put the brightness, it is the same brightness if you have it checked. It is the same brightness it would be of I had it turned all the way up and auto brightness on.

uploadfromtaptalk1447038472304.jpg this is ridiculous. Why is android downloading 2GB of data for? I'm using the basic xml settings from the "detouchwizzing and debloating note 5" thread for T-Mobile on xda. But this is beyond my comprehension

Is it normal for cell Standby to be the majority of your use?

Right now my cell Standby is 18% and next closest is screen and it is 10%. And I've made no calls period during this off charge time.

Disclaimer, I'm on verizon and WiFi

What I've been doing lately is before I unplug my phone, I do a phone restart to clear any BS that's running. That seems to help. Maybe it doesn't. I don't know. I do know that when I do that and I drive home from work, I'm still at around 75% when I get home.

I don't use my phone nearly as much as you guys do though, apparently. I don't think my phone as constituted would be able to get 5, 6, 7 hours of SOT. But I don't need that so it's okay I guess.

I can get around 15-20 hours before I get to 20-25% left so it's pretty damn good for me lol. But it also leaves me wondering whether my battery should be lasting like 2 days since I *dont* have the screen on that much, haha. If I leave it overnight it drains like one percent an hour rather than 4 or 5 so that inflates numbers.

For Verizon it seems to be normal. They have some bug for many that cause standby to go up when WiFi is on.
