Note 5 Battery life thread

Does anyone know what the circled app or process does that I see when opening package disabler? It's in pink which I think is bloatware but then again others were in pink that I unchecked since I want them.

I just wrote a response to this...not sure where it went.

Anyway I disabled the built in stuff I don't use like NFL Mobile as well as Google and Amazon add-ons I don't use. I also keep my phone in power saving mode at all times.

Keeping it in power saving mode at all times is fine. But for power users like me this means when screen is not being used data is not being accessed and emails won't come through until the screen is on.

This is why everyone is different. If I had a phone that didn't have work email on it and it was my personal phone outside of that you can bet I'd change a lot and Probably get over 20 hours.

I've had my phone unplugged for 1 hour 22 minutes this AM and I'm down to 85% encase I've been using it constantly the entire morning. At this rate id get approx 8 hours of use because I'm taxing it.

That's no different than other devices as well.

Where it makes a difference will be in how the phone drain when you are not using it. I think that is the key to better performance.

I noticed that my iPhone 6+ was much better when idle with almost no drain for hours but worse when using it.

This phone is worse when idle but better when using it. Since I use it more I get better results.

Everyone is so different. But I 100% guarantee those getting such good battery life would have similar results to those of us that push the phone constantly. That's why trying to do too much to this device is pointless.

So I've had 4 iPhones and decided that I wanted to give the Note 5 a try. On my iPhone 6 I would be at between 50-60% at 5PM. The battery life on my AT&T Note 5 has been terrible! I took it off the charger 1 hour 15 minutes ago and I'm already down to 73%. I've been on wifi but my 4G LTE cell signal is weak but my iPhone was never like this. My screen brightness is set on auto and I've turn off some of the syncing.

Can someone give me steps I need to take to optimize my battery?

A low signal will eat up your battery. Who is your carrier?

Is there anything I can do to prevent the Cell standby from eating 21% of my battery? That doesn't seem normal at all. I've already turned on power saving mode.

In an hour of use I'm down from 65% to 44%. If I can't fix this I'm definitely returning this phone.

Verizon has an issue with standby and WiFi use for many users, not all.

Of course phone does sync and phone calls, lots of texting, web browsing, and i use Tapatalk a lot and Google Plus, those are my main things i use a lot , no game playing don't like to play games.

Did you get your returned original Note 5 yet from Samsung? If so, did they say what the battery problem was?

Yes got it back. There was an issue with the update and it was also causing my battery to read full when it wasn't full. They took off the OS and put it back on, they went ahead and replaced the battery and they replaced the SIM drawer for some reason.

Wife has this phone and her battery life is better than my maxx. Sorry don't have any numbers right now other than she went more than 2 days on full charge and she couldn't care less about battery life.

Does anyone use power save mode? I do most of the day and it really helps me. Plus, my brightness is usually turned way down because the screen is so bright. I only turn the brightness on when I'm outside in the sun.

Yes it turns a super fast smart phone into a slow phone that only syncs with screen on. perfect

Oh yeah when i took the picture it was to the top if i scrolled a bit down then the rest would show so basically was cut off

Scroll capture might be my favorite feature.... Just saying...
