Hi

I have a broken screen (Blank) on my Note 5, however, it is still functioning, just that I can't see what I am doing. Is there a way to backup the data from the phone? I read that MHL does not work with this phone. Appreciate if you have any ideas on how to do this. Thanks

Ravi

You can ty to connect it to your computer using SideSync via USB. That should mirror the screen on the computer and allow you to use the mouse/keyboard to control it as well.

MHL is not included on this phone, so video via HDMI is not possible, unfortunately.

Thanks for the quick response. Does this need to be installed and running on the phone too? If so, I don't have access to see the screen on my phone. It is completely blank.

Usually, yes... BUT I can't remember if the Note 5, like the S7, has the basic software built in to let you install it from the computer.

If it won't let you, try the following:
1) Go to the Play Store on a computer and remote-install SideSync onto your phone (you have to use the same Google account as on the phone, of course)
2) Once installed, double tap the Home button to access either S-Voice or Google Now (whichever you chose as your assistant; this assumes you didn't disable it at all). If needed, unlock your phone (again, I'm assuming you can do so with your fingerprint).
3) Ask the assistant to 'Open SideSync'.
4) Try connecting to the computer again and see if it works.

I have the same problem. I use sidesync and connect my phone to my laptop, i installed sidesync on my laptop when my phone was still working but sidesync should already be on your phone so you should just download it on your laptop or computer. I suggest to connect it via USB because its easier and it takes less time but with WIFI it works just fine as well.
