I've had my Note 5 now for a couple of weeks, replacing my aged Note 3. I love the Note 5 and it is a great upgrade. The lack of a removable battery doesn't impact me at all, I prefer to use a separate power pack for the very occasional times an additional charge is needed. The lack of microSD card slot is a minor irritant, but I got the 64GB Note 5 and I carry SanDisk Ultra Dual for the videos I want to have available.
There are a few issues/irritations going from the Note 3 to the Note 5:
They are small irritations in themselves and I really love the Note 5. Any suggestions for overcoming these are welcome, and any thoughts on further irritations I've yet to find?
There are a few issues/irritations going from the Note 3 to the Note 5:
- Despite the higher density, a folder on the Note 5 only displays 9 visible items, whereas the lower density Note 3 can display 16.
- The contact widget is missing a direct dial version. I have found a Shortcut Dial Pro app but the widgets it creates have very small images.
- The button arrangement with multitasking on the left is taking some getting used to. I still find myself long-pressing the home button.
- I miss the Pen Window from the Air Command (yes, I am an S-Pen user). Just to draw a quick rectangle and pop a calculator in it was so easy.
- I have the S-Pen Removal set to trigger Action Memo, and both devices are in S-View cases. On the Note 3 I can write straight onto the window without opening the case. On the Note 5 I have to open the case first which wakens the device, then put it back to sleep with the power button, before withdrawing the pen to black screen write.
- Have to scroll through the home screens whereas the Note 3 allows you to switch by tapping the appropriate home screen button.
- And the app drawer has to be sorted manually!
