Note 5 - Marshamallow when will we get it???

IME android phones other than Nexus always work better with original version. Just think of the months designers had to test every phone function with the original ui. They KNOW the phone will flop if they don't get it right. Now the phone has sold so efforts are half hearted at best then providers add their own levels of complexity. If the overall experience is better it is a miracle. I have had different 3 android phones lose some great feature or suddenly become slow or suffer restarts after a much awaited update. My only beef is in vzw we don't have the option to block updates on phones not rooted.

K....it's December. Note 5..just saying. Want Marshmallow now!!

December is when Samsung was supposed to release Marshmallow to the carriers. The carriers then have to bless and anoint it before it is rolled out to their customers. And in Verizon's case add a ton of bloat ware and disable key features they don't like.

Re: Marshmallow on Note 5

I saw a new leak today saying that it's been pushed back to "Q1 2016".

never saw an update that ever thrilled me. they can keep it

Re: Marshmallow on Note 5

The fragmentation/pathetically slow update process is my single biggest irritation with Android. MM is not even a major update. Arguably could've been 5.2. And yet...there are a few features I'm looking forward to, and am also hoping the notification LED will function normally.

It's definitely the biggest downfall for non nexus devices

Re: Marshmallow update arriving soon...

I'm just looking forward to getting Doze to improve battery life. It's fantastic on my Nexus 6.

It says Doze starts "after a period of time" when idle. Any idea what that period of time is?

I would more so blame your carrier (if you have a carrier device) or Samsung being slow. If you get a device (like a Nexus) you get updates pretty quickly from Google. The past 2 update / pushes for my 6P were within a few days of Google releasing them (they do it in batches). Much better than my previous carrier branded phones that could take months upon months to get a simple update.

Re: Marshmallow on Note 5

It is so easy to complain that everything isn't perfect when you are not the one doing it. These are extremely complex devices and there are many subsystems and different vendors' products that have to be integrated and then there are the carriers. It is only natural for a bug or two to creep into any release. I have been very impressed with the last several Android releases. They have been solid builds. There was some WiFi issues a while back but they were fixed in a couple of months.

I am running 6.0.1 on my Nexus 7 and it works great. Battery life has increased and there are some minor improvements over 5.1.1. I am looking forward to receiving it on my Note 5 whenever Sprint let's it rip. I am very impressed with the HW and SW quality of the Note 5.

I looked under the tree this morning and my Verizon Note 5 didn't get any Marshmallow updates....

someone must have told Santa that i was a bad boy this past year. :( (sad but true)

probably didn't help that I left the logs burning in the fireplace all night.

It's funny because I did actually get an update on Christmas day (LGU+ in South Korea) but it is build number L5, i was on K4

I have had approximately 12 Android devices including all the Note phones. Never has the performance of a device ever improved after receiving a new flavor of Android. Never.

Gave up a long time ago anticipating a newer version of whatever.

Re: Marshmallow on Note 5

The only thing I'm looking forward to with Marshmallow is the necessity of having to accomplish a factory reset. Happens everytime.

Re: Marshmallow on Note 5

So, question. Do you think Google is intentionally misleading people about version, or, is it possible the update changes things in the base platform that are not clearly visible in feature s? Kind of like the theory behind current Windows updates...OMG, did I really ask that about Google....of course they did...
