I checked for an update a few days ago and it said there was one so, I turned on my wi fi with the router just 20 feet away and when the update was done it said it had failed. when I check for an update now, it says it's up to date is there a way I can retrieve the missed update again and get it to install? Thanks!

If you're on Verizon, then yes, that may work for you.

The update that failed was August the 29th. I installed smartSwitch on my pc but, can't figure out how to use the program to search for the update when hooked up to the phone?

Well it should automatically check for updates and alert you if any. You can go to more>preferences>updates to set up auto download of updates.

And make a backup of your phone while you're at it. Nothing much but you should always havr a backup copy anyway.

Do I have to enter the model # and serial number first, for it to automatically check for updates and I assume I should have the phone hooked to my pc when checking for an update? Thanks very much! :)

Yes. Just plug the phone into the PC with SmartSwitch on, and once it detects the phone, it would check for updates for that phone. No need to do anything other than plug it in.

Sounds simple enough, I'll give it a try when I get back from my Doctor's visit this morning! You've been a great help! :)

Tried smartswitch but it found no update? Maybe I need to compare the installed version and see if it's actually, the new update version. I'll check!

Well, still shows the old update anyone have any other ideas I could try besides, factory reset? Thanks! :)

Did you also try the Software Update Assistant from Verizon, as you previously mentioned? Or are you not on Verizon?

Wow, I tried the Software Update Assistant from Verizon and it said it was already up to date but, it's not looks like the only other thing to try is to do a factory reset sure hate to do that since it's the wife's phone!

Well, you can try a manual flash of the latest firmware via Odin. Before it doesn't delete any data, but make a backup just in case. That's easier than making a factory reset.
