Note 5 vs iPhone 6s

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

That is true. There is so much to tinker with and a lot to learn. I think it's one of the reasons why I enjoy it so much. I'm always learning new things about it and how to use it. I just found out today that when you are in the messaging app if you go to more and then album, it shows all the pics that you have sent and received from that person. I have always liked this feature on iOS. Didn't know it was there until today. I'm always finding little things like that.

Well dang doc, I didn't know you could do that either! Lol, awesome!

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

Throwing down the gauntlet Doc. We'll see who lasts longer. I really hope to but this could get interesting. :-\

I will accept that challenge. And I assume we are going on the honor system.

Solve your issue by selling the Ipad and either get another tablet that will match as closely as you can or just go without. If the Ipad isn't there to tempt you then you might find it easier to commit. If you decide you just can't live without it and then have to go buy another one then you have your answer and you need to go back to Apple and be happy with your choice.

Samsung makes a nice tablet too.
It's funny although I have 2 ipads I always perferred android phones and my favorite tablet is a windows tablet so I actually prefer working in three ecosystems. I must admit it would be much easier to just have i-everything but then I would need a new hobby!

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

Man this is like therapy for me! I always said I would try iPhone again once they increased their screen size. So I got a iPhone 6+ last year and then sold it when the 6S+ came out. In fact, I received my iPhone 6S+ and Nexus 6P within a week of each other. I enjoy using both platforms. It has gotten easier since just about every google app I use is available on iOS.

I use a Macbook Pro Retina and iPad Air 2 so I should be content with the iPhone 6S+ but I always get bored and need my android fix every week or so. I have tried other tablets and laptops but will be keeping my apple gear.
I stopped using iMessage on my idevices and just use texting so when I swap my SIM to android, no issues. I tried to use my Nexus 6 on Project Fi but that just confused everyone since I kept my main number also. Also have the S6 and S6 Active which I will keep cause I like having a rugged phone for outdoors and camping. My son got a phone this year and I offered him my S6 and he said no way, he wanted an iPhone so he got an iPhone 5S.

The thing that has be most aggravated is the different versions of android. Until my S6 Active got 5.1.1 last week, my three android phones had three different versions of android. So I will probably simplify and just get a new Nexus and iPhone each year to satisfy my gadget urges. It is easy to swap the SIM. I must say the iPhone 6S+ is the best yet. WIFI calling for ATT which no other phones have on ATT yet and touch ID incorporated into about 15 apps and also many with 3D touch. Google countered with a superb Nexus 6P which is everything I wanted in the Nexus 6. Now if we can just get some Nexus imprint going on the apps!

Resale value is definitely a plus with Apple products.

Note in my house!

I agree,it's subjective to geographical locations, when having studied in Socal,I can attest that iphones dominate the wireless market, making the Resale process swift and efficient

Anytime I have sold my iPhones they sell within a 1-3 days max. I always got top dollar for them.

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

There's no way that my wife will let me switch back to a Note 5. I upgraded to one and then switched back to iOS within a week. If I tell her I want to sell my iPhone and switch back, she'll flip out. Plus, I have 20 more payments on this phone. I figure I can wait until I pay on it for a year. Then sell it and pay it off. I know I could sell it and have enough to buy another phone, but I'll still be paying $849 either way.

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

I guess you could throw me in with the group that thinks you might be best off with an iPad and an Android phone. Or you could keep an inexpensive iPhone for when you think you are wavering. My son has a Galaxy Mega as his primary phone, and carries an iPad Mini, He's happy, aside from looking for a charge for his Mega all the time (lol). I don't care for big devices myself, but I have the advantage of having both Android and iOS phones as daily drivers... so it's two phones and no iPad for me. I never get into a situation where I "miss" iOS because it's always handy. The Android is my primary device for a list of reasons, but it could be summed up as usability, enjoyment, and battery life. Battery life is a big kicker, and even if all the apps were equal, it would still be a big deal.

The problem is that I lean towards the "power user" category, and the iPhone is more of a "casual user" device. I'm saying that objectively, as the iPhone definitely does very well in standby, and pretty good in moderate use. How I use my phones right now, is with an HTC M8 as the heavy hitter, and the iPhone for light duty. It works out well, because with the iPhone's excellent standby, I get 3 to 4 days between charges. On the M8, I can hammer it without worrying about needing a charge until maybe tomorrow night. But here's the surprise: If I reverse their roles and let the M8 do light duty, I get 3 to 4 days out of that as well, which makes either device acceptable as a non-primary phone. However, when I make my iPhone the heavy hitter, I see the low battery message before I see dinner. Right now, at 8:56 pm Eastern US time, my M8 has been up and running with moderate use (36 phone calls) on 1 charge, for 70 hours. You read that right; 70 hours on 1 charge, and I still have another 16 hours to go on the remaining 20%. So, I enjoy the aspects of both phones, but even if I took away the extra pleasure of media consumption and gaming on the Android, it's the hard-use battery life that locks in their primary and secondary roles.

PS: If I needed a tablet, I would definetly get an iPad, as I have an Android tablet and hate it!

Actually noticing some performance hiccups while on WiFi. Some apps take a longer time to load and if a connection to Facebook is needed it takes forever. Wiped and started over and it was the same thing. Other devices in the house don't have the problem under the same WiFi. I'm a bit concerned...

I had the exact same issue. Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube all took forever to load over WiFi but were all fine on LTE. It turned out to get an iPv6 issue with my router. IPv6 is a newer standard and was switched on by default. It was all the more frustrating because all my other devices work with the default settings without issue. Enter the Note 5. If you care to do a Google search you will find plenty of opinions regarding using IPv6 vs the older iPv4. What I can tell is that turning off the IPv6 default settings instantly solved my WiFi issue.

Good thing is I don't have to worry about selling my phone anymore. I just trade them in now.

I found that watching videos in YouTube is pretty good for learning things. Search on Note 5 tips and tricks

I've learned how to do a lot of the general stuff already. Many of the features are carried over from the Note 4. But, I still come across new things in the settings or how to use features all the time.

You obviously need both! Hey at least you're not chasing skirts or gambling away the mortgage on Fan Duel! As vices go our wives should be happy we have such harmless ones. Heck, golf is WAY worse.

I'm sure they don't see it that way. My girlfriend really gets aggravated everytime I switch phones.

Hey they have to complain about something. Their moms taught them that. The thing is they're not gonna throw our stuff out on the front lawn and change the locks just because we get a new phone! I find a jewelry purchase or a weekend away preceding a new phone purchase smooths the way!

I just recently fessed up to her about my addiction to spending too much time customizing my phones. So that's one of the issues. Problem is, I still spend the same if not more time on my iPhone than I did on my androids. Really, it's more of a hassle to try and sell my iPhone and buy a different phone when there is nothing wrong with my current phone. Which is something she doesn't get and I have a hard time justifying to her and myself.

I'm sure you have quite a collection.

Not really...I talk more than I buy....lets see an iphone 4, a thunderbolt, an og droid, and a razr maxx hd. All still work great on wifi.
