Note 5 wifi connection issue

Has anyone had trouble connecting to a wifi network after the security update from January 2017 for the note 5?



I can connect to my home wifi without issue but at work it says it's connected but there's actually no connection. Loading webpages or the google play store just times out after a while.

I've tried forgetting the network and reconnecting, clearing cache and doing a factory reset.

Any help or suggestions would be great.

I don't know if this will help you, but I was having really slow internet connectivity at home. I had to go into my router settings and disable IPv6 I think is what it's called. That made my wifi run faster. But I was always able to connect to my internet so I doubt that's your problem.

Sometimes showing "connected" means the phone has communicated with WiFi, but you still need to sign-in to be truly connected. Try going to the "home" setting of your default browser, and see if it takes you to a sign-in page. It depends on how the WiFi you're trying to sign into is configured. FWIW, this has been my experience with a similar problem.

My home connection is very slow since latest security patch , no idea if that's the reason , this post makes me wonder though

Could possibly be the 5 GHz radio. I changed from 5 GHz to 2.4 GHz radio and that fixed some issues for me.
