I am coming from an iPhone and Apple watch so I am sorry if this seems like a newbie question but here goes.

I picked up a Gear 2 Classic today at T-Mobile. Its activated with a data line and all of that. So I was under impression that in the event my Note 7 was not turned on or near the watch, the watch would revert to the data line and at the very least my text would come to my watch. I purposely left my phone home while I ran to the store and when I came home I had several text. They did not come to the watch until after it was reconnected via bluetooth. In addition I had a couple of missed calls that never came through.

Did some testing and put the phone on airplane mode and would send messages to my phone with Google Voice and they would not go to the watch unless I had the watch connected to the phone with bluetooth. I also had sent to the watches direct number and everything worked perfectly.

On the Samsung Gear app on my phone I have the forwarding turned on, they did that at the store when activating.

Any advice or are my expectations to much?

Are you on a data plan with your watch?. I have the GearS2 sport and its a standalone watch. I can use it with my phone and without..thats why I chose it. I used the Gear2 which was Bluetooth only. It gave me the smart watch bite. If your watch has its own number it should be a standalone. I can forward my phone to it. The number on the watch is for that

Yes it has its own number. I have finally been able to get the calls to forward to it, but not messages.

You have to go to settings-connections-numbersync. Select connect and follow the prompts

Neither the phone nor watch have those options. In the Note 7 I assume your referring to inside the Gear app. I have the call forwarding set up, but its not doing it for texting as well. I spent hours testing and trying to figure it out yesterday.

On the watch under settings.

Thanks for trying to help. I do appreciate it. I may go to tmobile today and see if they can help

I think you can only get call forwarded to your watch. The watch has it's on number for a reason. I'm not sure you can forward text from your phone to your watch. You may have to have people text your watch if you want text.

I see. Guess my expectation was different. I did not know att did it different and that is who my friend has.
