Note 7 Launch FAIL

I did here the supply was a little short on the blue coral but not on the rest of the colors I guess you're right Samsung must not underestimate the preorder sales that they got I pre-ordered on the 3rd my phone is in route right now delivery today I hope

I pre-ordered with AT&T it is on the way, I cannot complain because I didn't have to go to the store today and see if they had the blue coral. I have my watch, the sd card I ordered will arrive with the phone then I will go to the store and have it set up. Do I wish I had it sooner sure, but it is just a phone. And while maybe the thrill will be worn off for some I have Monday to look forward to

I still don't understand why people preorder. I walked into a store this morning and got my phone.

Same thoughts as you. Always hated preordering. But this time I walked into the store and called 15 others and there wasn't a blue Note 7 to be found :(

Haven't you heard? If some people received their phones that means it's not a launch fail. If they have 0 phones available in a particular color on the date of launch that's also not a launch fail, even though that doesn't constitute "selling out." Also, there is no such thing as a Samsung launch fail. Such a thing is apparently not possible.

Are you finished? Others have stated that it's not a launch fail for them. It wasn't for me either. I got mine yesterday and it's outstanding. I'm sorry you're frustrated.

I guess it depends which T-Mobile store you're talking about then, because at my local one, they told me that they are reserving their note 7s only for new activations. Nobody who wants to upgrade is allowed to get one. Fortunately mine came from eBay anyway, or I would be super ticked.

That's how stores are though -- depends on which one. If I went to the crappy one across town I could see them doing that. Luckily the one near me is a good one with actual nice reps.

And as others have stated, it was a fail for them. Collectively, so many fails is what a neutral observer would call a launch fail. It doesn't mean every single person didn't get the phone when they expected to or were told it would be available.

I still blame AT&T. Most of the problems I've seen discussed are AT&T units.

Stopped at a BB in central IL & the ATT coral blue was not in stock, but think black or silver was.
I did not place a pre order, just wanted to see the color first.
They did have the coral blue via a different carrier & it looks amazing in person.

I get you're being sarcastic .. but it isn't needed. People are just talking about their experiences. The OP mentioned he went to one Best Buy and they didn't have them. How is that not their issue when plenty have gone in and gotten theirs elsewhere? It is either that store not doing their due diligence, weather or something else played a factor, or the warehouse messed up. It sucks but it doesn't instantly make a launch a fail because one store simply didn't have any.

So I guess all the people that made remarks like "what's the point to pre order?" now understands why.

My thoughts exactly. Not that the pre-orders were flawless (some are still waiting), but clearly the majority of pre-orders have been fulfilled as all of those threads have come to a screeching halt.

I would not constitute this a Fail, I would constitute this as a extremely high demand for an amazing product. Take apple for example, when they release phones, you can't find phones in the stores for a month or more and at times have to wait 4-6 weeks after ordering just to receive one. So personally i wouldn't say this is a fail, just a fact that the device is extremely popular and they are trying to meet the high demand.

Using the Apple example isn't a very good one though. If you preorder an iPhone and you get a delivery/pick up date, you will get it on that date. If the OP pre-ordered and was told it would be available it should've been. I don't really know who's fault that is, but I'd be saying similar in his shoes. Not necessarily that the entire launch was a fail, but his disappointment is valid.

Seems like almost everyone with a Note 7 loves it. Samsung got some money. Some of their partners did too. Launch = Success.

And while I agree with you on getting it when it was quoted... iPhones are not perfect either. Nothing is when it comes to shipping. I have had friends that pre-ordered iPhones that did not get them on the correct date due to various reasons (weather, truck issues, etc.). You may not have run into them but it does happen to all. No one is immune :).

Unforeseen circumstances like that are perfectly forgivable and understandable. His case seems more poor planning on his carrier or Best Buy's part though. You're right though, issues do arise that are unavoidable.

I can't speak for all areas, but here in the Dallas area it appears the only one that was lacking in stock was AT&T. For whatever reason most stores in the area only had the silver units in stock early in the day. Throughout the day most stores have received deliveries of the other colors. Maybe if they would sell the devices in the Samsung box and not have to package them in their own branded box they could get them out of the warehouse and into the stores on time (purely speculation on my part of course).

It's hard to think it was Samsung who underestimated the demand when it seems like several retail stores received zero phones for certain carriers (looking at you Best Buy and AT&T). That seems like a logistics probably between carrier and retail stores. Those that ordered directly from Samsung or their carrier seem to be getting their phone today in the color they ordered.

" the popularity of the phone took them by surprise". If I remember correctly the same thing was said about the Note 4 Edge, and the Note 5, ans the s7 edge. . . . At what point do you stop being surprised and go "hey maybe we should make enough for everyone"

I think it's a marketing plan. Apple does the same thing. If you have a limited release or not enough stock it gets a buzz going about how popular a device is and how hard it is to find one. I've never had a problem getting a Samsung but I always thought apple did that to get more press.

TOTAL FAIL! What kind of "launch" has no product in the stores, even for those of us who pre-ordered?

Pre-ordered at Best Buy in-store, so I could choose the 256GB memory card. After not receiving an email indicating my Note 7 was ready, I called the store this morning and found out they RECEIVED NO NOTES. Was told best case scenario was waiting until the end of next week. They wouldn't let me cancel on the phone, so I had to drive there just to cancel my order.

Went to my local AT&T Store (I'm in DC), and they RECEIVED NO NOTES either. Was told only one store in the area got any, and they only had 5.

This is a disgraceful product launch by any measure. I was excited to try out the Note 7 and switch from my iPhone, but I'm no longer making the switch. I hope everyone else had a better experience than me and are enjoying their new Note 7!

Best buy always gets less priority with devices. I mean many didn't get any 6+ at launch. Preordering from them is risky. Most carrier stores have notes in store, not sure why you area didn't get any.
