Android Central Question

Any one experience a battery drain and battery heat on the note 8 after updating to android nougat 7.1.1 ?

I'm with AT&T and have not had a single battery drain or heat issue with ANY of the updates I've received since I purchased the phone new on release day! Running latest Version BQK2

are you referring to AFTER the November security update? if so, then yes. there is a known battery drain issue that affects wifi users. Google knows and a fix should be coming or may be in the latest security update. my battery drains very quickly now as opposed to before the update and there was no change other than that before and after the update.

thank you guys for the awsome answers i meant after the december update it feels like my battery is running out way more faster then it used to be i got my note 8 with nougat 7.0 and it was great but after the december update my battery is running out way more faster and the phone getting a bit warm that's so wierd

toenail_flicker is correct... I didn't even think of that because of the way you worded your question. I just leave my WiFi OFF unless I absolutely need it and it solves the battery issue until the next patch arrives!

I'm on Verizon and leave wifi on with no battery drain or heating problems at all. Is it possible a weak wifi signal is causing some battery drain? Would be more convencing if someone could post Googles acknowledgement of this issue.

I don't know about excessive battery drain, but I did have a a random reboot a few hours after I did the update yesterday.

I keep my phone battery between 20% to 90% as much as possible. That being said, don't over think stuff. Just use your phone and enjoy it. Your Note 8 will last you the next 3 years no matter how you use it. Just have fun and enjoy the phone.

I use to scoff at getting too concerned over there kid gloves approach to battery life. Not anymore.

The stories now confirmed how iPhone 6S units face either force it to run slower to reduce heat, or face battery over heating.

I had a iPhone 6S Plus, two actually, first had poor battery out if the box new.

I know I don't keep using two year old phone before though I can't see ever needing more than what Note 8 provides either.

Good advice, I too try to keep charge between 10% and 90%. Like all eltronics, the note 8 won't operate exactly the same 100% of the time. Enjoy the best phone you can buy. Merry Christmas to all
