Note 8 bluerooth issue

I have an issue with my Note 8 and my Sony bluetooth earbuds. I have all the volume up on both devices but I can barely hear the caller through the earbuds. They can hear me just fine. I tried other bluetooth devices and they work but I like these sony earbuds. I've also tried some other sony bluetooth headsets and I have the same issue. Is there a fix for this or is it just compatibility issue between the Note 8 and Sony headsets?

Can your headphones connect to the computer? Maybe there is a firmware update to address? Or you can go into developer's options and disable the absolute volume feature.

Which Sony headphones? I have the WF-1000X and don't have this issue.
