Note 8 Camera Problem - Soft Edges when not in RAW

I have had my note for a few weeks, but one issue that is bugging me is the lack of detail in the camera. Regardless of the camera app (stock, Open Camera, etc) and the settings attempted, whenever I am looking at the viewfinder an image looks very crisp and detailed.

As soon as I take the picture, all edges in the saved image are slightly softer. If I have the option selected to also save the RAW image, that seems to retain more detail (primarily when taking pictures of my dog - can see hair strands in RAW, blurred otherwise)

Its a shame because I feel like this is purely a software issue (if it was hardware/lens related then the image in the viewfinder wouldn't look as good)

Is anyone else experiencing this?

I'll try playing around with this tonight and see how I make out. I JUST got a Note 8. :)

i have the same issue as well i started to mess with the camera functions some more and then i made it worse i reset all settings then it went back to normal and now im taking better pics

If taking shots from the distance, its not much of an issue - but you really notice the images up close (or if cropped).

Here is a very poor example of what I am seeing (this isn't even as pronounced as other pictures I have taken), but it gives you an idea of the "softening" im talking about. The Top image is a crop of the RAW file, and the bottom is the PRO shot that I took. The raw file (albeit much lighter), has some more detail in different areas of the face. Again, bad example - only one I have for compare at the moment.

What settings are you using in Pro mode? The photo output for Pro mode entirely depends on various factors as all the settings are manual.

I think that shot was taken in PRO but with all settings set to Auto. (Just Auto/non-pro is even softer on edges) That said, this softness has been pretty reproducible regardless of what I have tried with regards to manual focus, shutter speed, etc.

Its just so weird because its like, if I could just take a screenshot of what I see on the viewfinder that would be sharper than actually taking the picture right now haha

I shot alot in raw on my main camera the colours are different when I compare it to the jpeg file.
raw holds more information allowing you to do a greater amount of work with it.
jpeg images are a compressed version of the file I would say if you can shot in raw as much as you can then edit the image and save it as a jpeg
