It is. And although you can't put it in the pocket, it also works with the Tab S3 S-Pen (or most any S-Pen out there, for that matter, but without the added sensitivity levels for older models).

I may have to get my old s pens out from my Note 7 and see how they work on my Note 8. And also see if they are exactly the same color black.

You can use a Note 4 Sylus, Note 8 and Note 12.2 stylus. You can even use a Microsoft Surface Pro Stylus.
