I suggest that in addition in forum threads, to add links to informative articles (as kitmo did above) and you tube's.

Thank you for this post. This will surely be a great help. I am thinking of getting a Note 8 in December.

Lost my "ok Google" notification sound.

I would say "ok Google"
and I would have to look at the screen if it acknowledged my request. IT would still give me the answer or information I needed, but if I was hands free activating it, I wouldn't know if it heard me, so I'll have to take my eyes off the road to see. Just like when Bixby gives you the sound before you ask a question, the OK Google [ding] somehow muted itself. Again, it still gave me what I needed per say, but I didn't hear the little bell or [Ding] notification before asking the question.

The Fix-
Settings>
Accessability>
Scroll down to >services
and toggle on >Amazon Assistant or Talk Back
or Switch Access
Toggle any one or all of these on.

Drove me crazy.
Example
"OK Google, {Ding}
What time is it? Time for me to stop cursing so much. Lol

Everyone probably knew this but me. I just don't know what caused this in the first place.

My son said while looking around I might of accidentally toggled the one running it off without knowing.
Knowing me and my big fingers I probably did.
Hope this helps somebody.

I use Bixby more, but want my phone to work like it suppose to.
Here's Sprint answer,
"do a full reset".
After cursing them out, I fixed it myself,
as usual, Sprint gives me 100% connectivity, but their troubleshooting squad is freaking useless.

I guess this is where this post goes. Sorry if not.
No faq link, because I fixed it myself.

Good time to get the note since places like Bestbuy and others a throw in a TV or a 200.00 gift card allegedly.
Plus the phone will probably be around 700.00

Don't have any of these "and toggle on >Amazon Assistant or Talk Back
or Switch Access" choices with AT&T Note 8... I was bummed after reading your post and then trying it! I've had the same issue - it worked for about a month I think with my Galaxy S7 Active then disappeared and never came back and I've never heard it on the Note 8!

My OK Google doesn't make a ding if my media is up I hear a noise from the microphone. But I just said Hey Bixby and heard something when the mic popped up. But I have an unlocked from Sprint and I don't have those options neither to turn on under accessibility.

Problem with texting. What's with words turning into gray boxes with little balloon pictures? They're difficult to edit then. Also sometimes the cursor stops at the end of a line and won't budge.
