Note 8 in 2017

Re: CONFIRMED: Good news :) Samsung Will Release Galaxy Note 8 in 2017

I wanted to go with the Note series. I had bought the Note 7 with the intent that I was going to stick with it because I am a chronic smartphone and platform switcher. So my plan this year was to stick to something. But then the recall happened and sent my plan into a tailspin. I had to pick up another inexpensive device once I turned in my Note 7. I got the Moto G4 Plus and it failed. One day it just wouldn't turn on. Then I got the LG Phoenix 2. But it was horribly slow. So I went with the Pixel when I switched to Verizon. The Pixel malfunctioned. So I had become jaded by Android in such a short period of time. So I went with the iPhone 7 because I knew it would work. And it does. So I'm sticking with this and not switching. I just wanted a smartphone that works for me.
Wow, what an adventure! I too had the Note 7. I don't like the Pixel due to bezels and lack of features but I am shocked it just didn't work. Most reports call it the most dependable Android phone ever (not counting lte reception, wifi reception, and bluetooth). In other words it should be really fast and just work. I heard iPhone 7 had the same reliability issues with lte and bluetooth so I'm surprised it worked better for you but congrats on finding a phone that "just works".

To be honest, my experience with the Pixel was an anomaly. If Verizon had another in stock I would have gotten another one. But they didn't so I got the iPhone 7. And the Note 7 would have been a keeper if not for the recall. But I haven't had any issues with the iPhone 7. It has been the best performer out of the bunch.

That's good to know. Thanks. I would find it hard to learn a new ecosystem but maybe it's worth it.

Learning a new platform isn't hard. A lot of things are very similar. It's what experience you prefer.

My wife has an iphone 6 plus and it often baffles both of us. Like she doesn't get my pics attached to gmail but does get them if I use outlook. iTunes on the computer utterly baffles me as well. People at iMore are very helpful though.

Re: CONFIRMED: Good news :) Samsung Will Release Galaxy Note 8 in 2017

What are you using now?

BTW, I will miss the capacitive keys and real home button. Sorry to hear they are departing.

Uggh. In my excitement I skimmed over that.

Re: CONFIRMED: Good news :) Samsung Will Release Galaxy Note 8 in 2017

Hopefully official confirmation will come soon. I'm content with my S7 edge.

You've got the worst luck ever. Make sure all your insurance policies are paid up...

CONFIRMED: Samsung Will Release Galaxy Note 8, Galaxy S8 with EDGE Variants in 2017; Galaxy S8 Plus is Unexpected!
I would not really accept the news if "TechTimes" (the one reliable site) hasn't covered this news. So yes I am excited to look forward to Samsung Galaxy S8, Galaxy Note 8 and Galaxy S8 Plus. Though I got really disappointed to see failures in Galaxy Note 7 but no product is immune form bugs and failures so we should give Samsung little space and hope to see some great things to come along with Galaxy S8.

After the Note 7 debacle, and having owned every Note since the Note 2, I have learned a couple things.

1. I don't really need the pen. It's kinda nice, but not a deal breaker
2. I won't pre order phones anymore. I'll let other people be the beta testers for a month or two

Like you, have now owned all the Notes since the Note 2... and I have also learned a couple of things...

1. I really do need the S-pen. It's a dealbreaker.
2. I will pre-order the Note 8. See reason #1.

:-)

I too had every note except the 5.
I like the pen but not a complete deal breaker
But will pre order the note 8

Re: CONFIRMED: Good news :) Samsung Will Release Galaxy Note 8 in 2017

I imagine that when Samsung releases the S8 and the Note 8, sales will explode!:D;)

I've had the Note 4, Note 5 and Note 7. I don't need the S pen but it's a nice feature which I would use once in a while and I much prefer the dimensions of the Note 7 compared to my current S7 Edge; it just feels better in my hands. I pre-ordered the Note 7 and will do the same for the next variant of the Note (I'd be a little surprised if they keep the Note name though). Yes it was a bit of an inconvenience to deal with the two returns but I like getting the new technology as soon as it's available and throughout the ordeal I got two 256GB SD cards and a Gear VR... so about $500 worth of promo gifts.

As someone that has not seen one what is so good about these Note phones? I know they have the capacitive pen, but that just seems an added faff to use each time when a finger will do. TBH I am surprised the Galaxy S7 Edge is not the flagship phone it is fabulous.

Re: CONFIRMED: Good news :) Samsung Will Release Galaxy Note 8 in 2017

Note 8 | 6.2" inch *
Edge 8 | 5.7" inch *
S8 | 5.5" inch *
* without affecting the dimensions
:)
