Note 8 in January

I think I read somewhere from the 'promo' to get 50% off the devices if you keep a Samsung S7/S7 Edge as a Note 7 replacement, the launch of the S8 was pegged for Spring while the Note 8 was slated for Summer. Still earlier launches than usual, but I really don't think we'll see a Note launch overlapping with the 'normal' S series.

I'm not holding my breath for the discount on the devices.

No one will trust a product released early by Samsung......They should just continue to follow the time frame they usually launch.....

Not necessarily true for all. I trust the Note 7 I have now. Note 8 in January? I'll preorder in a heartbeat. As a matter of fact, I may get 2 of them just to help Sammy recover! OK, maybe not... LOL

I wonder if they'll give me a break if I trade in my Note 7 when the Note 8 comes out...? I bet they will, but they're not going to tell anyone that at this time because if they do... then no one will give them back. estimates vary, but I've read on here 1 million still out and also 2 million out worldwide. Either way, it's quite a few.

The note 8 release in January is the returned note 7 phones with the new improved non explosive battery.

I would be happy with a Note8 designed externally the exact same way, even having the camera in the same spot...but with the non-combustible battery. This way, my new Note8 can use the 6 Note7 cases and 256GB micro SD card sitting on my book shelf with nothing to do.

They probably won't. The deadline for the promo is the end of November, and with all the updates being pushed out to limit battery charging and possibly disabling the phone itself, they'd probably look at you and say 'seriously? after all we did you never turned it in?!".

PS: Did you know that now insurance companies are (legally) voiding your home/renter insurance if you still have a Note 7 in the house? Yup. The phone is great. But it's not worth keeping with all the bans and recalls and stuff that's now illegal. It's not like they're not giving you easy ways to replace it.

I see your point, but there's about a million of us who don't care sooner the better as far as I'm concerned...
