Note 8 or Pixel XL 2

6 defects corrected equals 0 defects remaining

They were also 6 defects in various Google services unrelated to the phone itself... But my point was that Google has always been responsive and willing to work with me to get things resolved. It was cool to see the fix I helped work on get pushed out to everyone. Samsung didn't even give me the courtesy of following up with a live person.

That price we pay is more than just the phone. Maybe I'm jaded because I've spent most of my career in QA related roles, but support is important to me. With a tap, I can start a chat session with Google's support staff... Something I used earlier in the week to clear up a device backup issue.. the tech initiated a screen share session to walk me through the steps to clear whatever was clogging the ol pipes and the backups are running again. The supervisor followed up with me a day later to check in and make sure things are still going smooth.

That stuff matters to me. I've contacted both Samsung and LG on occasion and I left those interactions with a distinct impression that their approach to post-sale support is 'Screw you, we got your money!!'

(And let's keep things above the line please)

My guess is you've never looked at them side by side. You obviously have NO idea what your typing about!
The P2XL's screen is beautiful even without using the latest enhancement feature's.
I have and the Note 8 has a far better screen.

I've been using the Note 8 and Pixel 2 XL for the last two weeks. In fact, yesterday was the end of my 14 days for the Pixel and I just couldn't return. I have a couple more days with the Note 8 until it's 14 days are up.

Just when I think I have made my decision, I fire up the other phone and then change my mind again.

I like the Pixel 2 XL for the camera, battery life and the overall snappiness of it. I also like how the display looks cleaner/clearer to me. I like the note 8 for the display too, the feel of it and the extras. I feel like with the Note I'm getting more for my money. And it was $300 off at the time I bought it.

In the end I think I'm keeping the Note 8. I haven't had a Samsung device in a few years so I figured I'd give it another go.

Same boat. Won't let go of S-Pen ever. I had Note II and it had such bad battery life.

I was tempted just to play with Essential1 to see and maybe when it's Essential2.

The Note is a nice size. Someday an Apple iPhone X Plus may try but not today.

Ok. I'm going to post like an adult, some honest advice that the original poster was looking for, not some transparent battle.

I have been a Note person from the Note 3 days. I prefer the Note 8 because for me, it has everything I'm looking for. love the camera, love the Samsung Pay, battery life is good, and it handles everything I throw at it and more. I use mine for work and for personal stuff.

I did check out the Pixel 2 XL in Best Buy. Its not a bad device, looks pretty nice actually. I just Happen to prefer the Samsung devices.

What have you used in the past that you've enjoyed the Most? I've tried the V20 (nice), Google Nexus 6P (also nice), and had the Samsung S7Edge before (mine was a bit "buggy").

It's what works best for you. Reading some honest reviews does help too though, if you're undecided.
